We like too many names, it's ridiculous. We seriously don't have a favourite...

I thought I'd turn it into a little game, that you can help with! Please tell me your favourite and least favourite, I'll then put those into separate piles; if someone then likes the opposite, it'll go back - it makes sense in my head! So, what's your favourite and least favourite (pick only 1).

Only downside to this process is that by definition, you end up with a popular name, so likely to be one of several in his class.

I didnt think Alexander was that popular when we chose it, but there are three in my MN antenatal/postnatal group!

PamelaPatriciaYouCanCallMePam · 01/05/2016 23:08

Yes Luke has to go!

LotsofDots · 01/05/2016 23:08

I'm still here... Just!

Matthew is an excellent name, I haven't come across a baby Matthew recently.
While this is indeed an excellent way to have filled my Sunday evening, I don't think DH would cope - I can't get him to suggest any names, let alone a shortlist of 42!

Somerville · 01/05/2016 23:08

Imagining breakfast time in OP's house.

OP 'I like them aaaallll.'

OP's DH 'Just pour any random one in a bowl for me love.'

FastWindow · 01/05/2016 23:07

I withdraw my Luke.

You cannot in all straight faced honesty go to the registry and call him Luke Walker.

ANewLittleBoy · 01/05/2016 23:07

Oh guys, don't make me feel bad that your favourites aren't left! Sad

Hang on, to the people left, what is your favourite name, out of all the names?

Of the ones left :

Favourite - Alexander
Least favourite - James

WiIdfire · 01/05/2016 23:07

Looks like it's down to
Alexander James Walker
Matthew James Walker

So, thinking nicknames.
Alexander: Alex, Xander, Lex, AJ, Sandy, Sascha, Ali, Alec.
Matthew: Matt, Matty, MJ, Math.

Any of these sound good/awful?

FlopIsMyHero · 01/05/2016 23:07

Late to this thread, but I love it! Grin Alexander is a fabulous name Smile

Somerville · 01/05/2016 23:05

That is the problem with a committee, Maryz

Somerville · 01/05/2016 23:05

LotsofDots, don't go now! You have to fight for Matthew!

Also, I'm hoping this idea takes off and I can spend every Sunday evening on a Mumsnet naming committee. And you're pregnant! Come back in 12 weeks time!

They are all lovely names. I can't take the suspense anymore, also v tired! Good luck, and hope that your lovely baby lets you have some sleep on which to mull over his name!

Somerville · 01/05/2016 23:03

I was about to go to bed but I will stay up for another photo!

ANewLittleBoy · 01/05/2016 23:02

I wouldn't go with a name if I didn't like it Smile I don't mind going with the name left, I adore them all, honestly, DH does not care, he claims that he'll be the same whatever his name! He isn't fussed!

I'll get another pic for you, hang on (to the person who asked Wink)

Last name is Walker

It seems that what people really like is either Alexander or Matthew.

Whereas William and James have got through on being entirely unobjectionable and no-one disliking them enough to vote them out. No?

Hushabyelullaby · 01/05/2016 23:01

I think OP said her surname began with a W and ended in er, so for instance Walker.

I think Alexander James Walker is a great name!

WhispersOfWickedness · 01/05/2016 23:01

Least favourite is James, don't have a favourite, all the best ones have gone Sad

Somerville · 01/05/2016 23:00
Twoseventhsaweasley · 01/05/2016 22:59

My favourite now is Matthew, least favourite is William

Cookiesandcoffee · 01/05/2016 22:59

Matthew/ Alexander James

Too many James at the moment (why it's gone from my own top 3) but I think works well as a middle name if you don't have any meaningful ideas

He's gorgeous and my instinct was Matthew when I saw the pic and that was before I scrolled through the rest of the thread! Flowers

WiIdfire · 01/05/2016 22:58

It would be great to know the surname though, just to rule out dodgy initials. Did you say it was 'W'?

(Cant believe people would honestly use the initials 'BJ' for their child, as suggested upthread!)

Eeeek686 · 01/05/2016 22:58

Was just coming on to say I love Dylan but I see it's gone Sad

Love Alexander - Xander is an a awesome nn!
Don't like Matthew, it's just kinda dull and bland... Sorry!

Hushabyelullaby · 01/05/2016 22:58

I've already commented my fave first and middle so can't very well vote again. Nice to see that those two choices are so popular!

EleanorofProvence · 01/05/2016 22:57

Alexander James is a great name BTW, as is James Alexander.
