I love the name Elise never heard of it until I watched insidious. Wish I called my daughter it.

Brahms makes me think of the composer, but I don't watch horror films.

I'd feel weird telling my child that I named him/her after a film like that. But that's probably just me...

TheCaptainsCat · 06/05/2016 16:52

I love the name Jennet too, the only other context I've heard it in is as the name of one of the Pendle Witches put on trial in Lancashire in the 1600s.

brahms and liszt

gamerchick · 05/05/2016 21:46

I named my first born out of a Stephen King film.

I wanted to name my last born malaki from children of the corn and was vetoed strongly Grin it's a shame because it would have suited him.

NannawifeofBaldr · 05/05/2016 21:42

I would assume that you were a big classical music fan.

I think I'd find Amberly and Brahms hard to say together though (double am sounds) but that may depend on accent.

froggyjump · 05/05/2016 21:35

I really like the name Jennet for a girl, - it's the dead mother in the 'Woman in Black' and although I have since found out it is an old name, I've never heard it in any other context, so I'm not sure if I would use it or not (helpful)

Brahms is a great name unless you are a cockney or live in that area of London.
Otherwise go for it :-)

Lucked · 04/05/2016 12:36

Outing myself but it was my dogs name!, it was a little pretentious to call in the park but that was 20 years ago.

It is a really good name.

unicornthong · 04/05/2016 12:33

I watched The Boy the other night, kept waking OH up at all the jumpy bits! I kinda like Brahms, it's posh AND cool. Grin

Bram (short for Abraham) is a little less 'out there' but not sure if Amberley and Abraham are a bit too matchy-matchy.

Ilikewinetoomuch · 03/05/2016 04:16

Haha well my friend has called her boy lucious....my dp keeps calling him lucifer

I quite like Brahms. Definitely made the composer connection and not the horror film connection though. If you're not keen on that then I saw another thread in here asking about the name Abraham nn. Bram. That's nice too? A slightly less unusual name and Bram also sounds good with Amberley?

JeanGenie23 · 02/05/2016 10:00

Damien is the only horror name that really sticks for me.

I saw the conjuring recently which had an Annabelle in it but that's a popular enough name to not be tied to the film.

Same goes for Carrie, Jason, Freddie, Rosemary.

I think Chucky is a no no regardless of the films!

MyBreadIsEggy · 02/05/2016 09:57

My parents were going to call me Damian if I was a boy Hmm

I would also think of the composer if heard the name Brahms!

SanityClause · 02/05/2016 09:51

Brahms is also Cockney rhyming slang for drunk.

Brahms and Liszt - pissed.

I would think of the composer if I heard Brahms.
