Has anyone used this name? Do people have trouble pronouncing it?

What would it get shortened to in theory?

Areola.

Sorry.

I love it but only know how to pronounce it because of Love Actually.

I wouldn't shorten it to Aura - that's a completely different and quite hippy-sounding name I think.

It does have an either/or pronunciation problem. But so do Clara and Esme and that doesn't put people off using them.

I know one who has it shortened to Aura.

I know one who gets shortened (only occasionally and by a certain group of people) to Lia.

And a 6 year old who is now making everyone shorten it to Rey to be like the woman in Star Wars.

I don't have one but I know one. No major problems with pronunciation but I find it a bit of a mouthful when I say it in normal conversation. It doesn't really trip off my tongue but that could just be me. Some people call her Au-reel-ia and some say Au-ray-lia. Her mum says au-ray-lia.
