KateBeckett · 19/04/2016 21:47

Dp and I are expecting our first baby in July, and at this rate he's going to be nameless!!

Dp has very er... Adventurous tastes. I am not opposed to something unusual, but not dp's level of crazy!

Examples of names I like-
Isaac
Cameron
Kieran
Seth
Sebastian
Finn

Examples of names dp likes-
Hudson
Malachi
Ranulph
Valentine
Efren

Can anyone help us find a middle ground before my head explodes?!

There's lots on here I like! have you thought about finding older spellings of names that people think are new, might balance your two tastes, for instance I have a Caeden which these days tends to be Kayden or Kaiden neither of which I like.

KateBeckett · 25/04/2016 08:52

Thanks guys, we have a sort of short list at last! Phew!

Thanks everyone! Lots of ideas here...

We have added Eli and rafe to the (very short) list of names we both like.

Dp is so keen on Valentine he wasn't to add it as a third middle name Hmm I'm not convinced seeing as my surname is going to be the last middle name! How long does a name need to be fgs?! Grin Equally, he won't agree to have our agreed middle name as the first name with Valentine as the middle name, which was my suggested compromise.

Argh! Why is this so difficult?!

I like Malachi, the only other one I know will be a teenager now. Also for you to consider:
Chase
Alexander lots of nice nn Alex, Al, Lex and Xander.
Ezekiel
Hugo

Strokethefurrywall · 20/04/2016 18:53

I love Malachi - I'm going to add that to my list of boys names for my imaginary 3rd son. It's on the list with Vaughn, which I also love.

I have 2 boys with surnames for first names - Carter and Sullivan. Use them if you wish Grin

Congrats! I actually like names on both your lists and don't really see one list as being wackier than the other. My favourite names on there are Isaac, Sebastian, Finn and Ranulph, all of which we/I really like (and one of which we still might go for - also due in July).

I don't think I've seen you on the July group...? If you fancy it, come and join us! The latest thread is called July 2016 babies (8)...

Grufalosfriend · 20/04/2016 09:27

I like Valentine. Reminds me of Valentine Warner.

Mclaren37 · 20/04/2016 07:34

We had a similar split in name tastes - I loved Cameron and Angus and DH loved 'cooler' names like Otis and Jackson. We compromised with the name Archer, as it was a family name (nn Archie) if that helps. Of your two lists I really like Hudson and Cameron. Other names that might be a good compromise would be Otto, Rafe, Leon or Silas? I'd love to see more baby Hudsons though!

BikeRunSki · 19/04/2016 23:16

Cullin
Otto
Irvin
Edwin
Amos
Ambrose
Idris
Evan
Eben
Silas
Saul
Zebulon

Mason is quite chavvy round my way tbh . Blush Hudson is cute though ...

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 19/04/2016 23:00

Malachi is Hebrew, actually, not Irish. But it's true that it means my angel or my messenger (such things being one and the same in the Bible...)
I love it.

How about Gregory? Ezra is becoming more popular too... Jonah? Elliot?

BushyTailedPony · 19/04/2016 22:52

My DH is Erlend and loves his name. Although he does get letters to Ms and has been referred to as Earland, Ireland and Erin among others.
