After much agonising, we've drilled the list for DD2 down to the toll

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cosycottage4 · 18/04/2016 20:22

Gah! Pressed post by accident!

We've drilled it down to the following:
Annabel
Portia
Aurelia
Aurora
Flora

DD1 is Naomi

Would love to hear thoughts/feedback!

Flora is one of my favourite names.

I like Portia and Annabel.

I dislike Aurelia and Aurora.

GooseberryRoolz · 18/04/2016 20:26

Flora and Annabel are beautiful Smile

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 18/04/2016 20:37

Portia is the nicest. Annabel is okay.
The others are awful sorry.

Cocoabutton · 18/04/2016 20:45

Flora, Portia, Annabel in that order. The other two sound a bit odd with Naomi.

CaptainAnkles · 18/04/2016 20:49

Flora is the nicest name from your list and goes well with Naomi.

mrsschu · 18/04/2016 21:01

Annabel - it's fine, not really my taste
Portia - really dislike, it sounds like porcelain, I'd imagine a Portia to be cold and unapproachable
Aurelia - quite nice. I know a 4 year old Aurelia
Aurora - love it
Flora - reminds me of the margarine

Sophronia · 18/04/2016 21:26

Flora or Aurelia

BikeRunSki · 18/04/2016 21:29

Flora
Aurora
Aurelia
Portia

NoCapes · 18/04/2016 21:32

A navel just reminds me of that creepy doll, and a very different feel to it than Naomi (if that matters to you atall?)
Not Portia - it is (I know we're not allowed to use this word) but it is very chavvy
I like Aurora but would worry about her struggling to say her R's when she grows up
I really like Aurelia
Flora is nice but just a bit...nice

NoCapes · 18/04/2016 21:33

A navel?? Annabel*

Undercooked · 18/04/2016 21:35

Aurelia

FluffyPickleMonster · 18/04/2016 21:35

Annabel- love love love it, so pretty and feminine
Portia- really don't like it sorry, sounds a bit pretentious
Aurelia- quite like
Aurora- not too fussed
Flora- love it but chose not to put it on my shortlist due to the margarine connection

Ikeameatballs · 18/04/2016 21:35

Flora or Portia go best with Naomi.

Cosycottage4 · 18/04/2016 21:39

Thanks everyone! Looks like flora is winning so far, though hadn't really considered the margarine connection... Confused

Sorry cosy! It is a beautiful name though.

winewolfhowls · 18/04/2016 22:50

Flora!

JSarah · 19/04/2016 02:06

Annabel

Cocoabutton · 19/04/2016 07:04

I don't know if children these days would make the margarine connection, though. It is not the first thing which came to my head as there are so many other brands now.

RaeSkywalker · 19/04/2016 07:06

Annabel

ABitAsleep · 19/04/2016 09:50

Annabel - Okay. Seems quite popular right now, not really to my taste.
Portia - Hideous. Just makes me think of a car or a stuck-up private schoolgirl.
Aurelia - Pretty. Reminds me of Love Actually. Not sure it goes with Naomi though?
Aurora - Meh. Seems to be all the rage at the moment, have seem it mentioned quite a lot. Too Disney Princessey for me. Not sure it goes with Naomi?
Flora - Lovely. Pretty and sensible. Suits a child or adult. My favourite of the bunch.

rubberducker · 19/04/2016 10:41

I love the name Flora BUT I had a colleague who nearly named his daughter Flora until one of his lad mates made some comment along the lines of "you know what they say about girls called Flora? Easily spread" nudge nudge wink wink. He was horrified and they went for a different name. Clearly the friend was an idiot but the margarine connection should be considered for that reason.

Annabel is lovely but seems to be on the rise popularity wise if that bothers you?

Love Portia.

  1. Annabel
  2. Aurora
  3. Aurelia
  4. Flora
  5. Portia
LadyAntonella · 19/04/2016 12:42

Flora
Annabel

Love these^^ (both were on my list for DD1)

Portia - really don't like it. Think it sounds harsh and a bit 80s (sorry)
Aurelia - too flouncy and hard to say in a hurry (I know a little Aurelia and I have to really concentrate when I say her name, which is weird)
Aurora - Not sure what it is I don't like about this - The Sleeping Beauty thing maybe? Not for me anyway.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 19/04/2016 12:45

Definitely Portia!! Although I've heard people here say it means pig? But I love it, think it looks and sounds pretty, is well-known but unusual, works at any age.

Annabel - dull and horsey
Aurelia - pretty, reminds me of the waitress/Colin Firth's love in Love Actually
Aurora - love it!!!
Flora - dull
