If I've got a Thaddeus...

...can I also have an Atticus?

Is it too similar? I don't mind them being a bit similar sounding but some days I think it's absolutely fine and others I think it would be too much.

DC2 due soon!

@Antonin no the OP came back & asked again

whatausername · 28/08/2019 22:09

OP reviving your original thread? I love your efficiency! I think the names are slightly too similar but knowing the name of DC2 would help.

aibutohavethisusername · 28/08/2019 20:53

Really does depend on what the second one was called I think.

Antonin · 28/08/2019 15:34

Zombie thread

katesalwayslate · 28/08/2019 08:43

No they shouldn’t be used together, I mean

katesalwayslate · 28/08/2019 08:42

Personally I think no

diddlediddle · 27/08/2019 20:34

Yes it depends what the second was called?

I really like Atticus as a name and I think especially if they're apart in age it would be fine.

Chanandlerbong89 · 27/08/2019 13:32

By the way, what did you call your second in the end? Congratulations on a third! Flowers

Chanandlerbong89 · 27/08/2019 13:31

Mmmm I personally think they’re too similar but I do like the name

WordGetsAround · 26/08/2019 22:32

Reprising this thread for #3. Is Atticus too similar to Thaddeus? Still undecided after all these years!

I really like Atticus and don't think it's too similar to Thaddeus. Also, they won't be together all their lives, so don't worry too much about names 'matching'.

eatmytoes888 · 16/04/2016 13:20

Thaddeus and Leopold

Thaddeus and Gideon

Thaddeus and Marcus

Undercooked · 16/04/2016 00:19

Thaddeus and Atticus are lovely names (esp Thaddeus) but too samey for brothers. Having the two together distracts from each name's uniqueness.

Esther is lovely.

Gummibaers · 15/04/2016 21:58

Love both names and think they're fine together.

ShmooBooMoo · 15/04/2016 00:27

I like Leopold.

Shemozzle · 15/04/2016 00:20

Atticus is my top boys name closet followed by Thaddeus. Does Thaddeus get his full name or is it often shortened? As that will make a difference to the fact they rhyme. But I don't think they are too samey, I say go for it.

Since you have two of my top favourites I'll assume we have the same taste and share some of my others for you to consider. Rafferty, Rufus, Rupert, Magnus, Ignatius (Iggy for nn) Icarus.

Cassiopeia (Cassie), Persephone (Percy), Antigone (Tiggy), Harriet (Hattie), and Ramona.

Somerville · 13/04/2016 17:07

If you can't exclaim about pregnancy and baby names then what can you exclaim about?!

Esther is really nice, and does have strong and feisty connotations, I agree.

Pleeeease update us after scan?!!

Hiddlesnake · 13/04/2016 17:04

Thaddeus and Esther are an amazi g combination!
What about Thaddeus and Ezra as a set of brothers?

WordGetsAround · 13/04/2016 17:00

Sorry - way too many exclamation marks

Happy ending might not have been correct phrase anyway as its a beginning not an ending!

Not had 20 week scan yet but will find out when we do - can't wait! Thinking Esther for a girl! Know it's not everyone's taste but think it's so strong and feisty - I love it!

Yeah last night I saw your comment on my thread, then clicked on this, then laughed. We have the same taste in baby names, clearly. When's DC2 due and do you know it's a boy or do you need a girl's name too?

Dunno yet if it's a happy ending but it's at least a slice of happiness to enjoy right now. Smile

WordGetsAround · 13/04/2016 16:51

Ooooo - I don't know what I think - not sure where that came from!!

Somer - it's you! I am your number one fan! Even more so now that you are a fellow Thaddeus lover! (I have literally just posted on your Jane Austin-type thread - highly recommended by me to everyone reading this!) - and am beyond excited by your happy ending!)

I think I might just go for it - thanks for the encouragement!

I think

Ooh I clicked because I have a Thaddeus-middle-named child and then I saw it's you, Word.

Thaddeus and Atticus do kind of rhyme but that's cute. Do it, do it, do it!

And I'm howling at I'll not check the thread again as the first poster has the right answer - if only the whole of MN could be like that Grin
