Alouette?

What are your thoughts on Alouette? It's a French name and means 'lark', which I think is lovely. Every time I say it out loud however, the song 'alouette, gentille alouette' pops into my head!
I'd love some opinions!
Also, what do you think the best nn would be?

If you like the bird theme, Fauvette is (one of) the French word(s) for a warbler.

Hmm I know the song isn't actually the nicest but I wouldn't be choosing it because of that song, it's just unfortunate that it's the first thing that comes to mind!

Are there any other pretty French names that you know of? My nan is French so I think it would be a nice link!

I thought it was french for dove...?

But I do like it as a name. It's pretty.

However I either get the allouette gentile allouette song in my head (it's actually a horrible song about plucking the poor bird..) or the Cheryl Cole/Fernandez whatsit song "promise this" I think in my head.

Not keen. The word is pretty but it's not good as a name. Are you French? If not, it's even more of a stretch and comes across as pretentious.

If it's pronounced the way I think it is, I would think that it sounded like a word for a small toilet.

I think of the song too.

Somebody posted a translation of the lyrics and it's not pleasant so I'd steer clear personally.
