What are people's thoughts on Lola? I keep going hot and cold on it...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hassled · 15/04/2016 22:07

There are a lot of Lolas out there, and I'm not even including the ones who taste just like cherry cola.

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 15/04/2016 22:06

One of my cats is called Lola.

Long whiskers, white paws, very pretty and dainty.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/04/2016 22:04

"She looked like a woman but talked like a man oh my Lola". No. Just don't. It's either that or "she lost her looks and she lost her Tony then she LOST HER MIND" .

Gummibaers · 15/04/2016 22:03

It's really awful, sorry.

KERALA1 · 15/04/2016 22:00

Awful. Baffled at popularity. Cannot imagine calling precious new born Lola. Transvestite stripper name.

eatmytoes888 · 15/04/2016 16:16

No really don't like it. Sounds like a stripper's name. Loula is cute though! Or Louella - met one recently and it really suited her!

OhPuddleducks · 15/04/2016 16:14

Am u the only one who hears Lola and thinks... Charlie?

Summ3r · 15/04/2016 15:44

It was on our list as hubby loves it but I'm not too sure as I know a dog called Lola lol

MarshaMallow84 · 14/04/2016 23:14

I love it. Really love it. But I didn't use it for DD as I thought everyone would laugh behind my back (dull straight laced family)

Lulabells · 14/04/2016 19:31

My daughter is a Lola. I had her name picked years before we even thought about children. I LOVE it. I did worry about the transvestite/show girl association but that seems silly now. Plus me and DP love the Copacobana song Smile. We don't know any other Lola's here but a girl in her preschool is Loula which is also very pretty sounding and may be a good alternative for you. Smile

NewYearNewToads · 13/04/2016 01:02

I think it sounds like a hamster or a rabbit

TheNaze73 · 11/04/2016 14:12

It's a very popular name. There are 3 in my daughters class at school. I blame Charlie & Lola for the surge in popularity Wink

pilates · 11/04/2016 14:07

No, don't like it.

SomedayMyPrinceWillCome · 11/04/2016 13:39

There are 2 Lola s in my son's nursery class

ABitAsleep · 11/04/2016 13:37

I don't like it, sorry!

But i have heard a few Lola's with the nn Lollie, which i do quite like actually!

BartBaby · 10/04/2016 10:49

I live it and it was on my list. However dh vetoed it for the above reasons which is fair enough

Floggingmolly · 08/04/2016 21:33

There are loads of them round here. I don't like it much, I have to admit. It always puts me in mind of Lolita...

Botchit · 08/04/2016 21:27

Sweet name. Very trendy about 9 years ago.

Not keen at all. Also makes me think of the Kinks song (which is a good song to be fair!). There are quite a few around at the moment and I think it will date badly.

MissusWrex · 08/04/2016 20:43

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl, la la la la laaaa la.

Sorry, whenever I hear that name that bloody song gets stuck in my head.

I'll be humming it all night now 😂

Cosycottage4 · 08/04/2016 20:39

Right thanks everyone, it's officially off the list! Grin

El Oh El Ay Lola!

Sounds like a prostitute's name IMO. Sorry OP

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 08/04/2016 20:01

One of the worse girls names there is.

MuttonCadet · 08/04/2016 19:06

Showgirl rather than transvestite, but not great really.

I know a few dog Lola's (mostly Bulldogs)
