The trouble is, the 't' at the end often won't be pronounced properly, in all liklihood. I think Bert sounds awful when not said properly. Much nicer when it's said correctly. Same applies to the name Bertie. I think it sounds awful when not said properly. I have a similar sort of name which includes a 't' so I suppose I may just have a complex about it.

I wouldn't but my friend has an Albert that they call Albie which I think is very cute.
