Hi there. Our 2nd son is due in a few weeks. We are liking Jaylen - I don't want to ask family (I made that mistake last time) so I found this site!

Thank you in advance. Our 1st son is Clayden. Are they too similar?

I've never confused his name with Jayden. Probably because I have one of those myself!

If you must make up your own unique scrabblebag name, at least make it sound pleasant. 'Jaylen' is hideous.

Plus it sounds like 'Jail and'.

Which is a bit unfortunate as it kind of sounds like the name of someone who might end up in one.

I know someone with an Aiden and a Jaylen. Never heard of Clayden before.

It sounds a bit too similar to 'Jailin' (the fashion for wearing ones trousers low so ones pants are showing).

I do know someone who has a son called jalen and it is double barrelled with the name jase.

I think it is a made up name

Could you label him Jeremy Leonard in full, then Jay-Len could be a nickname?

But I think in practice it's far too like Clayden in day to day use.

They're too similar. Also, I'm not keen on it! The NN, Jay, is okay, though! I think we just have different taste, regarding names. If you love it, use it Smile
