Opinions on Grace?

Hello Smile

I'm being induced tomorrow; we are expecting a little girl!

I really like Grace (I also like the NN Gracie) but DH isn't completely sold!

He likes Rebecca (NN Becky) but I'm really not too keen...

I'd be happy with Grace Rebecca though Smile

Opinions?

Grace is lovely but absolutely massively popular. We are in the US and in my dds freshman class at high school (14/15 yr olds) there are no less than 16 Graces/Gracies!!!! My 12 year old also has 3 or 4 in her grade and they only have two classes so out of 30-40 girls.

Rebecca Grace flows better than Grace Rebecca.

I actually like Gracie, but i'm not as keen on Grace as it is. Although the longer you look at either of them written down it doesn't really look like a name at all... is that just me?

I don't know any personally know any Graces, but i think it would be quite unfortunate if she ended up looking a certain way (ie. anything but graceful)

Love Grace. My children are 10, 9, 5 and 2 and we have only ever come across one 10 year old Grace at ballet and an 8 year old in the same year group as my ds.. I think it is more commonly used as a middle name. It is timeless, classic, beautiful name so is becoming popular for a reason.

Love Grace but I would have concerns about possibility of a lack of grace in the child.

Grace is a lovely name.

I know of two adult Graces and all I remeber of them was their inner beauty and lovely smiles. One was not a stick but average weight and the other plump. Still suited them. It's ridiculous to assume a "Grace" needs to be stick thin or " Graceful " to carry the name. I love Grace Kelly but wouldn't be silly enough to compare all the Graces on the planet to her. Also, I'm sure there are a lot of rough, unfeminine women out there with daughters called Grace. It's a bit unrealistic to expect " graceful" with that enviorment.

The last two babies born I know were grace and ever other kid seems to have it as their middle name (either that or Mae) so too common for me.

Sadly the graces we know are awful. Both dds have one awful grace each. So have very biased negative view of this one! Also invites sniggers if grace becomes large in later life.

I don't think you have to be graceful to suit the name Grace.

I've a 'soon to be' 22 year old Grace, so she was ahead of the curve ( still in the 40s out of the Top 100 girls' names back in 1994 though.)

She complained that we'd chosen a common name when she was in her early teens ( just another opportunity to find fault with her parents at that age.) She is now amused when she hears her name being hollered at some little girl in the supermarket. Her boy friend's mother loves her name, which has also helped.
Good luck with the birth of your little girl. How very very exciting.

I know loads of little Rebeccas but no little Graces. Grace was to be my DDs name. Except she turned out to be a boy. Wink

I have a DD with the middle name Grace - I don't know any other Graces at all, so not that popular?

Not a fan of the name Grace - just think it's really boring to be honest! Rebecca's okay, not used much in babies nowadays....I know lots in their 30s so might be due a revival!

I teach in a girls school. Grace = well mannered, polite and hard working. Every time.

I love it, and I don't know any. I felt the same as fell though re. What if she isn't graceful? So it is dd's mn instead.
I like Rebecca too, although I think Becca is nicer than Becky as a nn.

Love the name Grace. But we do have a very beautiful & clever one in the family & she was the only one in her class too. We all call her Gracie Smile
