My great, great grandfathers name but is it too 'old fashioned'? What do you think?

DP and I also like Marc, Matthew, Joseph and Caleb.

We knew a Marholm a few years ago. He would be about 10 or 11 now.

Most disobedient kid in the sport class. Spent most of the lesson sitting on the side as he wouldn't listen.

And a creepy bloke. Kept asking me for a date, even though I only ever saw him with exdp and ds. Never went in that shop again!

But if you know better ones, then I don't see why not. It's along the same lines as Arthur and Frederick.

I have a young relative called Malcolm and it raised a few eyebrows when he was born but it really suits him now and has changed my view of the name away from the fifty year old trainspotter connotations. Mal is a cool nickname - I do like Malachi though.

Ugh, no. It's so ..... Grey sounding! Sounds like a creepy fifty years old man who still lives with his mum and goes trainspotting.

My friend has a 7yr old Malcolm, it really suits him. He gets called Malc.

My dad is Malcolm and DS2 has it as a middle name. I like it - obviously!

Sorry but it's horrible. Use it as a middle name if you must but I can't for the life of me imagine an adorable baby named Malcolm!

I've known three or four Malcoms - and none of them has endeared me to the name.

My dad was Malcolm. He hated it. I didn't like it either it was way too dull of a name for the colourful man he was! I won't even use it as a middle name if I have a boy as I worry they will hate it too. Sorry 😳

I'm not keen. I know a few Malcs - that's what they get called - all older men.

Some old man names I get, but I'm struggling with Malcolm. That said, Its your choice and I don't think your son will be one if several Malcolm when he gets to school.Smile

My DH s called Malcolm and there's not much I can do about that, but I wouldn't inflict it on a new generation.

Unpopular for a reason. It's awful. I'm old enough to remember a certain advert from the past for Vicks Nasal spray featuring a grown up mummy's boy with a very blocked nose called Malcolm. That's all I think of when I hear the name.

Don't let that put you off though if you genuinely love it, use it.
