I really love this name for dc4 but I know through searching previous threads on here its very disliked... 🤔

Still the case?

I can't see how it's 'uglier' than Aurora or something like that..

Just wondered your thoughts?

😀

Thanks x

Albertine is a brilliant name!

(Not a fan of Viv Albertine's music, though. What a rotten guitarist!)

lavenderpekins · 23/03/2016 20:00

That is one concern I have lunar1 except I wouldn't use Albert if I was having a boy.. 😁

If it's a boy I like;

Gabriel
Monty
Willoughby

And my favourite: Cassius. But I already have one of those 😊

Mag - many people can't say Aurora!

Alba is far nicer then Albertine.

Mag314s · 23/03/2016 19:30

I prefer it to aurora.
i cant say aurora. My face contorts like im speaking a new and very difficult language

MrsMarigold · 23/03/2016 19:28

WTF?

MrsMarigold · 23/03/2016 19:27

WTF?

Lunar1 · 23/03/2016 19:24

It sounds like you wanted to call a boy Albert, had a girl and just stuck a bit on the end. Of course if I actually met someone with the name I'd get used to it after saying it a few times.

It just sounds clunky on first impression.

BennyTheBall · 23/03/2016 19:13

I think it is very ugly indeed.

mrsschu · 23/03/2016 19:13

I assume it's a girl's name?! I don't like it at all, all I hear is "Albert" which is fusty sounding IMO. I like Aurora on the other hand...

Floggingmolly · 23/03/2016 19:12

If you wanted to call your child after Viv Albertine, wouldn't you call them Viv?

Floggingmolly · 23/03/2016 19:11

That was my mother's excuse for calling me Petunia, lavender. Wink

MrsUnderwood · 23/03/2016 19:11

Albertine was on my shortlist for DC2- after Viv Albertine of The Slits. I really like it, don't think it's an ugly name at all, or weird.

sooperdooper · 23/03/2016 19:10

I've never heard it before, I like it, I assume its a girls name?

lavenderpekins · 23/03/2016 19:06

Ha! 😂

Poor child will never be able to buy a mug with her name on it!!

lavenderpekins · 23/03/2016 19:02

Then the world would be BORING flog..! 😄

OP posts:
wasninah · 23/03/2016 19:01

I like it.

Floggingmolly · 23/03/2016 18:59

What's with all these bizarre names lately? It seems in their quest for "unique", people are missing the mark completely and going for ridiculous instead Confused
Top tip; if nobody else has thought to use it, it's usually for a very good reason.

lavenderpekins · 23/03/2016 18:57

Oh sorry! Genuinely not meant as a dig it's just a similar name imo.
Begins with an a, unconventional etc.. I actually quite like aurora but to me = Disney..
Interesting there are more positive opinions of the name this time..

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 23/03/2016 18:56

oooh I think it's cute

but can't quite see it in an everyday context

babies do grow into their names, though

(btw Aurora is unpronounceable by 98.7% of under 6s Grin)

Sophronia · 23/03/2016 18:55

I like it. I also like similar names like Alberta, Roberta and Amandine

sonlypuppyfat · 23/03/2016 18:54

Any name with Bert in is grim

I don't like it, but each to their own! Don't know why the dig at 'Aurora' was needed though

lavenderpekins · 23/03/2016 18:51

How is it 'grim'? Grim to me is maude.. 😁
