I really love this name for dc4 but I know through searching previous threads on here its very disliked... 🤔

Still the case?

I can't see how it's 'uglier' than Aurora or something like that..

Just wondered your thoughts?

If it is actually a girl she could have a very feminine middle name?

I wonder why Albert is awful? Bertie is cute isn't it? Wasn't the Queens dad Albert? Not that I'm particularly royalist!

I wonder where the other 2 Albertines in the country live 😂

I definitely don't see it in the same category as Pauline and Denise. Much prettier and classier. I think Albertine hasn't dated in the same way those two have as it was never popular at the time they were.

Alberta is nicer I think as Albertine sound alike a male European name

Instead of Albertine Rose, maybe:

Alberta Roseline
Alberta Rosalie

It makes me think of Proust and I like it.

But I imagine Albert will jump out at a lot of people and make them do a double take in a bad way.

My concern is that the lot of them would think is was bizarre/ugly. And yes pathetically I don't want the hassle. 😁

I still love it though. I think I'll mull it over longer.

I think its pretty. It reminds me of the Victorian fashion for feminising the father's name for the daughter. In the French Lieutenant's Woman there is an Ernestina (nn Tina), but Albertine is prettier.

Albertine is great. And whether or not you like it, it is an actual name - the OP didn't pull it out of her ass. Don't any of you read Proust? Grin

The only Albertine I know in this country is the daughter of a famous novelist, who must now be in her late teens or early 20s.

I don't like it either, even though I like strong girls names and don't go for cutesy ones. It does look like a boys name that has been adapted so it can be used. I don't like Thomasina or Nigella for the same reasons.

Ooooh no! It's awful! Confused A very unfortunate name for a little girl in my opinion.

It's almost as if you were expecting a little boy and were going to call him Albert, but a little girl came out instead and you just stuck a bit on the end to make it sound more feminine which it doesn't really

Or as if you are naming after a fusty old relative (Great Uncle Albert who died in the war, etc, etc) but couldn't think of any way to incorporate his name so you just stuck it on her.

It sounds far to masculine, heavy, old and fusty for a beautiful baby girl, or even a teenager or older woman.

Pauline, Albertine and Yvette - all old names that are so underused these days. It's just a matter of time before they become fashionable again.

I actually think Albertine would be cute for a little girl.
