Can I name my child after a vegetable?

My DH has a list of traditional names he wants to call our child. Things like Mary or Sarah if it's a girl and John or Michael if it's a boy.
I've talked to my friends about it and they all seem to think this is a good idea but I have my own list of names that my DH thinks I got rid of.
What I want to know is; are these names good names for a child? So far I've got: Endive, Guava, Pepper, Radish and Zucchini. I like them because they sound exotic and unique.

If you are an arty middle class family, this will be fine. If you are like me common as muck, this is not a good idea.

I knew a Bramble once..
And my friends dd has Strawberry for a middle name.
Prefer Banana myself, easier to spell once you learn when to stop!

Well if you can name your child storm, razor and rebel, why not chard, kale or savoy? Not that i like any of them! Maybe some of the herb names could work. Do you just want something unusual / unique OP, or is there something particularly special to you about vegetables?
