Can I name my child after a vegetable?

My DH has a list of traditional names he wants to call our child. Things like Mary or Sarah if it's a girl and John or Michael if it's a boy.
I've talked to my friends about it and they all seem to think this is a good idea but I have my own list of names that my DH thinks I got rid of.
What I want to know is; are these names good names for a child? So far I've got: Endive, Guava, Pepper, Radish and Zucchini. I like them because they sound exotic and unique.
What do you think?

When I was young there were vegetables and fruit that were exotic that are now commonplace. Just be aware that what you pick may not sound exotic in 20 years time.

I know, yes, a lot of these posts are sarcastic. That's why I haven't told my DH that I still like those names but there are some genuinely nice, helpful replies here somewhere and at least I have those few who don't completely disagree with me!

Wikipedia has a list of fruits and vegetables from which you could find a nice obscure vegetable to name your offspring after.

Sea vegetables might be a good place to start. They maybe be more hipster even than kale.

I wonder if people who name their children after 'things' call their pets people names, like Bill.

Lettuce is a 'proper' name.

Otherwise, YANBU. Of course you should call your child after a vegetable. I can't believe you had to ask.

Veg would certainly be unusual, plenty of fruit herbs and spices out there though.

Cherry, Clementine, Sorrel, Paprika, Bay, Sage, Rosemary.... Chard is nice and I like Guava but it is more a fruit than a veg.

I would avoid Pumpkin, Jerk Spice, Gherkin and Ugli Fruit. :x
