Can I name my child after a vegetable?

My DH has a list of traditional names he wants to call our child. Things like Mary or Sarah if it's a girl and John or Michael if it's a boy.
I've talked to my friends about it and they all seem to think this is a good idea but I have my own list of names that my DH thinks I got rid of.
What I want to know is; are these names good names for a child? So far I've got: Endive, Guava, Pepper, Radish and Zucchini. I like them because they sound exotic and unique.
What do you think?

ComelyHunt, those names are quite clever. Cornelious and Cressida in particular.

I honestly thought this whole thread was lighthearted fun. What am I missing?

Annieonamapleleaf could it be that you're not understanding the OP's irony (Irony (noun) - British straight-faced unfunny humour, so you're never quite sure if the OP is actually joking or genuinely batty).

I'd go for funky spelling too. Oba'Jean? Koll--Lee Flower? Monjtoot?

Yes they will. I have taken the time to look back on it and I'm happy to say I don't think anything will come of it as I made sure to be as polite and respectful as I could.
I think all of this has gone too far and really people get too angry about vegetables ;)

Please respect that I don't want anyone to be hurt by some thread on some website on the internet.

My opinion is don't name your child after vegetables. And sending nasty PMs is not on.

If I were naming my child after a food item, I would at least make it a superfood - I think the following sound beautiful:

Qinoa
Chia
Almond (probably a boy)
Strawberry (even more lovely with an 'ie' spelling)

Go with Sharon. It's a fruit and all the hipsters will be moving forward in time since old people names as too common now. Sharon will be in a class of Trevors and Brians and Barbaras, but only you'll know she's named after a fruit.

Well, sort of. He's Dutch. And I think it's actually Tjard. But it sounds quite like Chard.

If you're going to name your kid after a veg, at least be ballsy about it and go for something like Swede, Garlic or Shallot.

Veg names don't sound exotic OP. And I imagine that if your DH likes traditional names, it'll be very difficult to get him to agree.

I think you're going a bit far with Zucchini, pretty as it is. Courgette is far more familiar to British ears.

All of those names are a terrible idea - except maybe Pepper. I would even go as far as to say cruel. Of all the things to be named after - why a vegetable? Do you want your child to spend their life having their character compared to a vegetable?

I think it's fair to say your dh will never agree on a million years as his list is much more conservative
