Thoughts on Wren?

DH thinks it's ridiculous! But I think it's pretty.

He thinks it looks made up?! And if pushed would prefer the spelling Ren, which is a Japanese name and not really what I had in mind!

Others I we are considering are Alice and Nora. We already have an Isobel and a Dexter.

We haven't even started on boys' names yet. DH is a nightmare with coming up with anything and prefers the approach where I do all the thinking and he sits there and makes faces whilst I make suggestions Hmm

I think it's taking old fashioned names to the extreme. Nice for a bird, not for a person!

I know a Ren(ée). I'd not go for Wren. Could do without a lifetime of "That's Wren with a W".

I agree with your DH. I am not sold on naming a child after a small bird. It has no meaning.

I always think a name has to have a meaning that is special and reflects what you want for the child.

Renée is a nice name.

I love the name Dorothy - it means gift of god.

I love Wren, it was on shortlist for DD but we chose my grandma's name instead.

I liked it because it wasn't over the top girly and frilly.

Wren is lovely, was on my list for DD - but then someone on here asked whether she was likely to have a "wren-like" build and I realised that no, she wasn't.

She was born on the 98th percentile for weight and length and has followed that line. She wouldn't suit Wren at all.

She's also quite clumsy and uncoordinated so I'm glad I didn't go with one of my other favourites - Grace!

Wren and Nora are both on my longlist (ttc not pg yet) along with Ivy, Arya and Quinn.

I love them. And Alice is lovely too. Good luck winning DH over!

It's cute but I prefer more traditional names. Not keen on Nora but Alice is ok.

Wren is lovely and not made up at all, it's a bird. Prettier than Alice or Nora too.

My post should read: I like it, but I don't love it. The name Wren is really pretty, but I would personally beware of bird names. Although... Now I consider it Sparrow, Harris, Robin are actually all great! Grin

I know a child with middle name Wren. I don't love it, but Alice and Nora! Great names! To me Wren sounds a bit chicken-y. Do you know what I mean? Sort of clucky/birdy. I like your style though, have you considered:
