Clara - Love it, but i would say it's too popular right now, in my opinion.
Elora - Never heard of it, but i really like it. She might get mistaken for Laura?
Delphi - Don't like. Sounds like just a nn for Delphine.
Mariella - Love it, but personally prefer Marielle.
Jocelyn - Don't like. Sounds like an old lady's name.
Jolie - Okay, but don't love. I prefer Jovie.
Jasmine - I like it, i know a few in their teens and 20s, but not sure of popularity right now.

Clara

NadiaWadia · 11/03/2016 03:05

I like Clara and Mariella, and Elora is quite nice (not heard of that one before, I think).

Jocelyn brings to mind a posh schoolgirl from the 1950s and I find it a little bit stodgy and unisex. But that's just my association, I suppose. It does have a nice sound.

Delphi is a place rather than a name, I think (isn't it where there used to be an oracle in Ancient Greece?). I think it sounds a bit odd. There is the French name Delphine which does sounds more name-like.

and Jolie - no you just can't - although it has a nice sound it means 'pretty' in French so is either an awful lot to live up to or could lead to teasing. Although I'm sure she'll be beautiful.

Allalonenow · 10/03/2016 22:56

All very lovely except Delphi and Jolie.

ShadowsCollideIsSurroundedByAd · 10/03/2016 22:51

Clara - love it, I think it's classic and lovely
Elora - personally, I think it's awful
Delphi - sorry, but just no
Mariella - love it
Jocelyn - really love this. Makes me think of Jocelyn Bell Burnell
Jolie - my first thought is Angelina Jolie, which makes it a no for me. Just too heavily associated with one person.

LucyBabs · 10/03/2016 22:39

How do you pronounce Delphi?
I like Clara
Jasmine is nice but prefer Yasmin nn Yas

Damselindestress · 10/03/2016 22:34

I don't like Delphi, it sounded to me like the name of a company and after googling it I found out it is the name of a large automotive company.

I don't like Mariella or Jocelyn personally, just my opinion.

I like Elora, Clara and Jolie. It's possible the child might be teased about the association with Angelina Jolie though. The association with a famous actress sounds good but could be embarrassing for a child, especially if they turn out to be quiet and shy. Sorry to be so fussy!

kpreenien · 10/03/2016 22:32

Clara - pretty name, this is my favourite out of these.
Elora - unusual, this is probably my second favourite.
Delphi - the system I use at work is called Delphi so I wouldn't use this for obvious reasons.
Mariella - pretty, would probably get shortened to Ella
Jocelyn - this would remind me of jocelyn wildenstein
Jolie - I don't like angelica jolie, I'm team Jen so wouldn't use this name

Love Clara and Jasmine x

EvianLiveYoung · 10/03/2016 22:25

Jasmine is lovely Smile

rumbleinthrjungle · 10/03/2016 22:23

Jasmine is lovely, and Jazz/Jazzie is nice for a child.

I can't shake the 'See Delphi and Die' book title out of my mind (It's a well known murder mystery)

Shesinfashion · 10/03/2016 22:23

Hate Clara. Boring and dull. Really like Mariella and Jolie spelt as Joley.

Shinynewbed · 10/03/2016 22:20

Love Clara, like Elora, hate the rest sorry!

Sophronia · 10/03/2016 22:19

How about Delphine instead of Delphi?

Yika · 10/03/2016 22:17

Like all of them except Jocelyn.

Prefer Joely to Jolie.

What about Joelle?

EvianLiveYoung · 10/03/2016 21:53

I don't like any, sorry Sad but don't listen to me, it's your daughter Smile

SoftSheen · 10/03/2016 21:42

Definitely Clara.

Mariella is quite nice but a bit flowery for me.

Others are all awful, sorry.

PurpleDaisies · 10/03/2016 21:36

I don't like jasmine at all-it's too Disney for me.

DafferDill · 10/03/2016 21:33

Mariella, Clara and Elora are at the top of my shortlist.

I love Clara but worried it's becoming too popular.

What about Jasmine?

Luciferbox · 10/03/2016 21:26

Another vote for Clara. I think it's a lovely name.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 10/03/2016 21:25

Oh yes beady, Marielle is lovely.

DramaAlpaca · 10/03/2016 21:24

Mariella is absolutely gorgeous.

Next preference would be Clara, followed by Jocelyn.

I don't like any of the others.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 10/03/2016 21:24

I love Clara, quite like Mariella and would change Delphi to Delfina, but wouldn't necessarily choose it myself.
