What did you name your DC?

Very much light hearted of course.. No offence intended towards non lefties or their dc's names, I'm just

A) nosey
and
B) looking for inspiration for names that my (very lefty) dp might not veto.

Thanks and please don't flame me!

smorgasborgen · 12/03/2016 20:34

Adaline was the name of the first ever female computer programmer.
I thinks a really lovely name.

DingleberryFinn · 12/03/2016 20:28

If you like Leon, Trotsky's first name was Leon, which is about as lefty as you get...

Dontgiveaschnitzel · 12/03/2016 20:21

I really wanted a Rosa but DP vetoed it, said I was being a socialist cliché.. I doubt I'd get away with Leon or Karl either.

How about Corbelia?

Kezia! It ain't go down well with any SNP loving relatives though Grin

clary · 12/03/2016 20:15

DS1 is named after a fave leftie of ours and a major figure in union fandangos of the 1970s/80s. (I reckon that's pretty clear) It's also a name we love Grin

The other two, not especially lefty. I liked Rosa as in Rosa Luxembourg for DD but DH said no. DS1 when a bump was nicknamed Fidel as in Castro which I floated as an actual name for DS2 but we decided would be too much for the oldies in our family. Regret that a bit now...

I certainly would never name a child Margaret or David. Especially Margaret.

TinySombrero · 12/03/2016 20:08

Barbara has become slightly voguish,; reminds me of Barbara Castle.

Margo for Margo MacDonald, a socialist Scottish Nationalist.

MazzleDazzle · 12/03/2016 20:01

I'm heavily pregnant, hormonal and miserable. The left handed comment had me in stitches! Thank you. Grin

LovelyBranches · 12/03/2016 19:58

BeStrongAndCourageous · 12/03/2016 19:46

IfNotNowThenWhenever · 12/03/2016 19:44

It's Wild unlimited (no e)

TinySombrero · 12/03/2016 19:42

I really wanted a Clement.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 12/03/2016 19:39

One of my brothers is named after Clement Attlee.

I am a lefty but I just chose names I liked.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 12/03/2016 19:33

"i don't get the connection with the independence and leftism."

You cant have been in Glasgow over the indyref period then! All the left was for independence and made up a significant part of the movement. A lot of lefties joined the SNP- similar to the influx of English Lefties into Labour with Corbyn.

Trust me- its a thing.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 12/03/2016 19:21

Hmm, but the SNP aren't lefty unlimited so i don't get the connection with the independence and leftism.

Love the name though :)

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 12/03/2016 19:19

I am a big fat lefty, with 2 little lefties, both with lefty names:
Jimmy after Jimmy Reid.
Kirsty as a nod to the scottish referendum campaign (centred on a fictional Kirsty born into a new scotland)

Other lefty kids names Im aware of:
Two sisters with middle names Sacco and Vancetti Shock
Too many Rosa's!
An actual Karl (far too obvious!)
An entire commune who all gave their kids the surname Wilde.
A Nye

gunting · 12/03/2016 19:10

Joel

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 12/03/2016 19:09

I guess it depends on how left you want to go?

Fidel?
Vladimir?
Joseph?
Kim?

BikeRunSki · 12/03/2016 18:03

Big fat lefty here, but DC not named after political heroes.

Summ3r · 12/03/2016 17:57

What is a leftie ? Lol
