What do you think of this name? What does it evoke to you?

I just think of that patronising arse from the Famous Five and wonder how he was never found face down on Kirrin Island with a dagger in his back. They could have blamed it on Timmy.

Aunt Fanny and Uncle Quentin and the authorities would have gone along with that and said 'well he was a patronising arse after all'.

MitzyLeFrouf · 12/03/2016 21:37

'likes doughnuts'

Tall, thin, and definitely gay.
Pinstripes.
Grey shoes.
Slightly bulging eyes.
Knobbly wrists.
Likes doughnuts.

ABitAsleep · 11/03/2016 11:56

It always reminds me of Julian Clary - Do with that what you will!

I also knew a boy at school named Julian, who was possibly the complete oposite of Julian Clary, he was quite quiet, a bit gothy but was also a bit of an arse. Hmm

Ilovegummibaers · 09/03/2016 14:30

Julian is a great name, classic, strong and not overused! What's not to like? I also like Adrian.

But I really dislike Jude, it sounds so girly, like a nickname for Judy. It also means Jew in German.

SpecialStains · 09/03/2016 14:26

I love it, and the nickname Jules. Dh won't entertain the idea of the name for me though.

joyfulworld · 09/03/2016 08:49

Julian. I've always love this name.

RockUnit · 08/03/2016 21:06

I like it.

MidnightVelvetthe5th · 08/03/2016 21:01

It says camp and fussy to me

LittleBlackTrilby · 08/03/2016 21:00

I know the thing you mean but can't remember the name, have never seen it.

And I bloody hate Julian Barnes' writing. Grin

Different strokes!

ParsleyTheLion1 · 08/03/2016 20:57

Yes and unlikely his peers will know who julian assange was/is by the time they are old enough to care.

I'm sure there are lovely famous julians too. Julian clary is the only one i can think of. Or julian simmons.

Mouthfulofquiz · 08/03/2016 20:55

That gorgeous actor from The Green Wing who played Dr Mac is called Julian. It's a great name!

LittleBlackTrilby · 08/03/2016 20:54

To me it's a very wet, weedy, effete upper middle class RP type name. The kind of teenage boy with a floppy fringe who clicks his fingers to get a waitresses' attention.

mmm...thats what I fear too RudeElf.
but then I hope that by the time Julian is teenager Assange will be minor blip unknown to his contemporaries. here's hoping...
Maybe he'll still be holed up in the embassy!!

RudeElf · 08/03/2016 20:50

I think assange when i hear julian. Sorry.

nectarini1983 · 08/03/2016 20:49

Not for me...I always think 'camp'. Same as I think for Adrian...IMO

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/03/2016 20:46

I rather fancied him when I was 10. Don't tell anybody.

ParsleyTheLion1 · 08/03/2016 20:46
