Seriously losing the will to live. I have done a good handful of threads for his name (sorry) Sad he is growing too fast and hate that he doesn't have a name... We have decided on Elliott for the middle...

We like Matthew Elliott, but not sure I like the fact that he'll have an obvious shortening (so teachers, etc. Will call him Matt) and yet DS is Louis (we call him Lou) but not an obvious NN!

I am going off my whole list which is why I can't leave it any longer...

So, something that goes with Elliott!

Agree that Matthew is lovely and rarely heard these days. Go for it!

Lou and Matt is great.

cellnev · 03/03/2016 18:35

As long as you call him Matthew all the time yourself and just correct people when they call him Matt I think it will sink in.
My brother doesn't like it when people shorten his name (he's 25) he just corrects them by saying "it's ---"
Eventually they get it, if they don't get the message after the second time of them shortening it he ignores them till they get it right

Ha, that was before he became a mini terror! Something about the head shape and lie of the hair on your little boy reminded me of him though. I have no regrets about choosing Matthew - now trying to think of names for DC2!

KatieT12 · 03/03/2016 18:06

Your Matthew is so perfect!

We could definitely do Elliott as a first name I suppose! Just worried about the whole spelling thing... Honestly, if we were to do it as a first, we would still go for Elliott Robert Charles, just because that was the name we announced and then they said that they didn't like their name so didn't want to burden him with it! But I still would as DS has x

Matty!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 03/03/2016 14:11

He is scrumptious. Matthew is a lovely and underused name. Lovely!

Pinkheart5915 · 03/03/2016 14:10

Congratulations!
He is gorgeous.

I like Matthew

madmotherof2 · 03/03/2016 14:09

Matthew is lovely!

However I am a little bias as my eldest is Mathew ( or Mat now as he's a cool 12 year old). His nn was Maty when he was little

Lancelottie · 03/03/2016 14:06

He does look like a Christopher, now a pp has said it. Haven't met a baby Christopher for years!

SquadGoals · 03/03/2016 14:03

He looks like an Elliott or Ethan.

As well as being absolutely adorable.

Ilovenannyplum · 03/03/2016 13:52

He's gorgeous OP Smile
He looks like a James or a Max to me

smartyclogs · 03/03/2016 13:47

If you are struggling so much for a first name but are decided on Elliott as a middle name, would you consider Elliot as a first name?
Obviously you have your reasons for choosing it as a middle name but as this name has been decided on already it must mean that you like it.
Promote it to first place...Elliott Matthew Smile

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 03/03/2016 13:39

He's very sweet. I think he looks like a Christopher

Congratulations, he's adorable!

KatieT12 · 03/03/2016 13:00

He was going to have Robert Charles for the middle, but we have decided against as the family they are after have begged us not to... Such a bummer
