our baby was born this week-end and hasn't a name yet! Help please! We are a French family living in London so need a name which is good in both countries. We loved Hector but realised the bullying meaning only recently and that put us off.... What do you think of Edgar or Gustave? Brother is Oscar, is Edgar too similar? Thanks a lot!

I like Edgar, I used to know one when I was a child, he was nicknamed egg, which I expect became ed as he grew older.

I wouldn't be sure how to pronounce gustave, though I do like nn gus

I don't think anyone would think of bullying if they heard the name Hector, to be honest.

Of your two other choices, I prefer Edgar.

Gustave might work better in France, though?

I love both. Also Edwin. If you're French, I would go for Gustave.
