Which do you prefer?

I would probably use a nn for Edward

I think Ted/Teddy is great. It's strange, when you think of a teen named Teddy, your initial thoughts may not picture it right, but when you know one, it is just the norm and feels 'right' because it's their name

Edward is fine but a tad boring IMO. I love Ted as a nn however, although I detest Teddy.

I probably prefer Ethan on balance. Yes it's popular now but I don't think it's faddish necessarily. Makes me think of Ethan Hawke Grin.

there are 3 ethans in my eldest's class and they are all pronounced as "ee-fun" ehich would pee me off if it was my kid....

I have an Edward - it's a great name! He gets called Teddy, Ted, Teddington and The Bear. An added bonus (for a train-mad 3 year old) is the Thomas the Tank Engine association.

I prefer Edward as it's my grandads mn. My other children have nn names so the nn options of Edward fit quite nicely. I especially love Ted / Teddy

I prefer Edward. I know a few Ethans and whilst it's biblical, it is vey American and faddy. In all honestly I just don't like how Ethan sounds. It's quite an ugly sound to make iyswim.

Ethan is more if an American/ Aus/ NZ name. Also doesn't sound particularly solid no idea why I think that.

Ethan is a biblical name from the old testament. I have never heard it called faddy before....

I like Edward, I wouldn't have made the twilight association anymore, I definitely don't know any little Edwards, and I wish I did!

I have an Edward and it is popular but not because of twilight (I thought the first book was terrible). I teach about 5 14 year old Ethan's. I prefer Edward but only one Ethan is naughty!
