Sadie or Naomi?

So we'd more or less settled on Naomi, after pondering Leah. But although I love Naomi there is something about the mouth feel of the name which I find hard.... I've got to think before I say it, every time. I also find DH and I say it differently very often, we'll switch between Ny-omi, Neigh-omi and even occasionally Neyo-MI.

I keep returning back to Sadie. It was on the long list but we didn't dwell on it but I just keep going back to it. It sounds great with our surname, I think (Friedmann).

Any thoughts?

The other thing is we have very close friends who have a lttle baby named Sylvie. They won't mind at all but do you think Sadie/Sylvie are too similar? I have no doubt we'll be friends for life.

DS is Jonah. Please, any suggestions or views on the above would be appreciated!

Sadie is a bit too sexy for me. Naomi is nice

squoosh · 20/02/2016 23:58

Sadie wears a pinny and has a perma fag hanging out of her mouth.

Naomi doesn't.

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 20/02/2016 23:53

I also hate Sadie - like Leah It's more now - Naomi feels dated not in a good way

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/02/2016 23:42

Naomi = beautiful. Hate Sadie.

dotdotdotmustdash · 20/02/2016 23:40

I'd go for Leah too (I have one, it's never stopped being a pretty name for me). Sadie, to me, is old-fashioned and Naomi is a bit of a mouthful and doesn't flow well.

sambababy · 20/02/2016 14:01

I like both but Sadie is more interesting. Plus as you said, everyone pronounces Naomi differently.

pilates · 19/02/2016 11:12

Sadie much better than Naomi

Pinkangel23 · 19/02/2016 10:57

Naomi, but I'm biased Smile. Of course people will pronounce it wrong sometimes but it's classic and won't 'date' your DD.

MadameDePompom · 19/02/2016 10:51

Much prefer Naomi. Sadie manages to be twee and harsh.

cheekstime · 19/02/2016 10:35

thats tough both have really nice 'sounds'. I think Sadie at a push x

ddeemummy · 19/02/2016 06:35

Like both but Sadie wins for me

saffronwblue · 19/02/2016 02:26

Naomi has lots of vowels to navigate and get in the right order and so does your surname. Sadie is lovely.

CakeRattleandRoll · 19/02/2016 02:01

Love Naomi.

Sadie sounds too similar to sadist. (Although not similar to Sylvie, so I don't see that as a problem.)

KoalaDownUnder · 18/02/2016 22:53

Sadie!

Never really liked Naomi.

KatieT12 · 18/02/2016 22:41

Leah is the best Grin

villainousbroodmare · 18/02/2016 22:03

Naomi.
Sadie is a name for a poodle bitch.

StylishDuck · 18/02/2016 21:46

I love Leah (my DD's name). Naomi is ok but I would think you'd always get people pronouncing it "wrong". In Scotland Sadie tends to be a nn for Sarah.

Go with Leah Grin

BikeRunSki · 18/02/2016 19:58

I much, much, much prefer Naomi. I have an irrational dislike of Sadie.

I like Leah best though.

KatieT12 · 18/02/2016 19:51

I think Jonah and Naomi sound better than Jonah and Sadie Smile

IsEatBedThyme · 18/02/2016 19:25

I prefer Naomi (nay-oh-me) to Sadie but Jonah and Naomi doesn't sound right.

TheWordOfBagheera · 18/02/2016 19:08

A vote for Naomi Smile

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 18/02/2016 15:10

Naomi. Not a fan of Sadie far too twee

ashesandfire · 18/02/2016 14:27

I love Naomi.

I don't particularly like Sadie, it sounds a bit harsh.

Naomi is a lovely name and I think you'd soon settle on one pronounciation. My favourite is NAY-oh-mi.
