Like it or hate it?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GraciesMansion · 20/02/2016 09:53

It would get more than a few raised eyebrows here in County Durham due to the Thatcher connection but I do like it.

FirstTimeInForever · 20/02/2016 09:34

Thatcher, Thatcher, milk snatcher.

Sorry OP, I don't think it'll ever lose these connotations as long as there are people who remember her.

thebiscuitindustry · 20/02/2016 08:11

I dislike Margot and much prefer Margaret. For a nickname I'd probably go for Meg or Greta.

Monica101 · 20/02/2016 08:05

Agh no it's too soon to revive it.

Thatcher has ruined it for a few more generations yet.

rallytog1 · 20/02/2016 07:59

Love it. But we couldn't get over the Thatcher links and for that reason we couldn't bring ourselves to use it :(

Think it's definitely time for some rehabilitation of this name though.

timemaychangeme · 18/02/2016 00:15

Love it

NadiaWadia · 17/02/2016 23:54

Ironically, Margaret Thatcher was never known as Maggie by people she had actually met, family and friends etc., apparently.

I'm not fond of it anyway, it has a harsh sound somehow. Margaret is a little better (and classic, of course).

TwoLittleBlooms · 17/02/2016 23:50

I like it and like previous posters think Margot as the full name (Maggie as nn) is cool!

SaveSomeSpendSome · 17/02/2016 23:49

I love it.

I m not brave enough to use it though

TheCraicDealer · 17/02/2016 23:44

I love it. Could defo see a wee Maggie running about the place. Would go for a argot as a FN though, which is ace in its own right too.

Love it. Pretty much 95% certain it will be any future DD's name. But it would be Margaret, as we like longer names and day-to-day short versions.

MitzyLeFrouf · 17/02/2016 10:33

Maggie is such a gorgeous name.

magpie17 · 17/02/2016 10:32

I love it! Agree that now it's time to forget about Thatcher and reclaim Margaret as a classic and versatile name.

Love it. And love it as a full name, wouldn't put Margaret on the birth cert.

LadyWithLapdog · 16/02/2016 23:41

You can't reclaim it any more than Adolf IMO.

Drogon · 16/02/2016 21:36

I love it! I wanted DD to be Maggie but DP got the deciding vote Sad

thebiscuitindustry · 16/02/2016 21:30

I find it a bit harsh, sorry.

DramaAlpaca · 16/02/2016 21:27

I don't like it at all, sorry.

ILiveForNachos · 16/02/2016 21:23

I LOVE Maggie but OH is not convinced 😫

candykane25 · 16/02/2016 20:44

It's 24 yrs since the milk snatcher got pushed out.
Maggie is great name. Time for it to be reclaimed I think.

Ankleswingers · 16/02/2016 20:41

Not liking it at all op. Sorry.

dementedma · 16/02/2016 20:40

Love it

dementedma · 16/02/2016 20:40

Simpsons connection for me but love it!
