Don't do it. There must be at least one name on the spectrum between 'boring' Charles and 'made-up' Buzley that you and your partner can agree on? FWIW I like Charles though.

Oooh Buzz Aldrin's real name is Edwin. Who'd've thunk it wasn't Buzz (short for Buzkey, or Buzzard or summit)?

Ds is in Y5 and the only one in his school with his name. Dd has encountered only one other child with her name in her school life so far and is at a secondary with 1500 pupils.

Both are classic but not as much used as the Charlie's/James's - which are not bad names either.

I think it's the 'ee' sound on the end that makes it sound silly. How about Buzford, Buzhope, Buzholme or mix it up a bit with Fitzbuz. They sound much posher.

Finn has been in use since at least the 3rd century.

I would snigger at Buzley. So would a lot of people. My preference would not be to give a child a name that means they have to suffer the WTF responses throughout their childhood.

I just thought we had found a 'quirky' name we both agree on!

Guess I'll stick with Charles James and he'll be one of 100 Charlies Sad
