Aiden/Aidan

Just wondering which of these spelling people thought were the most common. I've also seen it spelled Aden (The name of a park near where DH used to live) but I don't want to do an unusual spelling and have him having to clarify how to spell his name for the rest of his life!

Yep, Aidan - it's lovely!

Aiden is made-up American.

squoosh · 16/02/2016 12:45

And yes Aiden is a misspelling. Aidan is correct.

squoosh · 16/02/2016 12:43

Well as an Irish person I prefer Aodhán but presuming you're in the UK

That's pronounced ay-awn.

SoupDragon · 15/02/2016 20:16

It's us English and our pronunciation I guess, we say AidEn and then spell phonetically forgetting it's roots!

No "we" don't! :o

Hadron21 · 15/02/2016 20:08

Two aa's.

weegiemum · 15/02/2016 20:07

Mine is Aidan. It's right!

MsJuniper · 15/02/2016 20:06

So glad everyone is saying Aidan! I blame that X factor chap for the upsurge in Aidens.

Aden is a different name altogether but more acceptable than Aiden.

Whichever you choose, he will have to put up with some misspellings but worth it for (imho) one of the most beautiful names.

My ds gets that too BlueChampagne. It's very annoying.

TriJo · 15/02/2016 14:53

Aidan. Aiden is the makey-uppy American spelling.

BlueChampagne · 15/02/2016 14:15

Seeing everyone saying Aidan on here, it frustrates me how often DS1 ends up as Aiden!

DramaAlpaca · 14/02/2016 20:15

AuntieStella · 14/02/2016 19:37

Aidan, like the saint.

WinterWinnie · 14/02/2016 19:35

Aidan

Aiden was formed later (by Americans!)

mrsschu · 14/02/2016 17:37

Aidan is the usual spelling that I know.

mydogeatsnutstoo · 14/02/2016 17:23

I agree with most that Aidan is the usual spelling.

Embolio · 14/02/2016 17:21

Aidan Smile

SoupDragon · 14/02/2016 17:14

Aidan.

Aiden is just plain wrong.

WhyIRayLiotta · 14/02/2016 17:07

Aidan.

Aiden looks like a typo.

IsEatBedThyme · 14/02/2016 17:00

Aiden

handonhip · 14/02/2016 16:39

Aidan, definitely.

PurpleDaisies · 14/02/2016 16:38

I just realised I typed the opposite of what I meant! I've taught about five Aidans but never seen Aiden. Doh! Ignore my post uptrend.
