Baby boy name help! Is it ridiculous?

Both my partner and I absolutely adore the name Isaac. However our surname is Hunt. Many people have pointed out the unfortunate wording that these names together creates. However we cannot find another name that we like or agree on. Every name seems to be second to Isaac and just doesn't feel right.

The only way that could possible get us around it is to double barrel his first name to Isaac-william.

Do you think this would still be inappropriate to call him? Or do you have any other suggestions?

This is out there but what about changing the family name. double barrell on Hunt.... your maiden name i.e ........ - Hunt. Or no hyphen. x

Hahaha my dad pranked someone at his work by giving them a list with that name on it so when they read it out...

Don't do it. I'm pretty open minded about names but you can't call him Isaac Hunt.

DH is working for a Mike Hunt at the moment, what were his parents thinking?

No way. I'm the first to say kids tend not to tease about names as much as people think, but they will be all their adult life instead which is much worse. Use Isaac if you really love it but use your surname. I have my first daughter who shares my surname and then my second daughter shares her fathers name (different fathers) It's not caused any issues at all. If you really are set on the surname then you must pick a different name. This isn't just an unusual name it's the pinchline of a very well known joke.

No, you can't have Isaac Hunt and I agree that Willy (William) is not much better, sorry.

There must be other names out there that you both like, there are literally thousands, have a look at last year's ons lists for inspiration.

Even if your partner turns out to be right about him always get called things like Mike It seems foolish to invite that with a name ending in c or k.

... And to your point no, adding William will not make any difference. On paper it's better, but he cannot introduce himself as Isaac-William and no one will ever call him that.

No!! It sounds like a bad phone joke. "I's a $&@#" (just to spell it out). It's not just one of those that MIGHT sound wrong - your boy literally would not be able to say his name out loud. No names ending with c or k for you at all. But Isaac would be the absolute worst of all. Agree with others that Isaiah and Joshua are both lovely?

It is very, very wrong with your surname, though - sorry.

You can give your DS any surname you like. Doesn't have to be yours or DH's. Just ask the Registrar to write down any name you like and they'll use it.

If you definitely want to use Hunt, these are names I think of as being similar to Isaac:

Xander
Dexter
Rex
Jago
Elijah
Nathaniel

Nobody will use William and your poor son will never understand why you did this to him. No single name is so special as to risk a life time of teasing for your child.

I wish it was a joke.. But finding a name is proving a very difficult task. My partner was quick to point out aswell though that any name we give him he will always get called things like Mike, just like my partner did.
