Middle name Josephine. Thanks!

They are all gorgeous, gorgeous names! Would find it hard to choose, I'd probably go for Mary at a push.... but Lucy is lovely too. What about Alice to add another to the mix.

TheNewStatesman · 29/01/2016 12:12

Mary by a country mile. It stands out in a nice way.

JingsAndCrivens · 29/01/2016 11:48

Mary is my favourite. But Lucy is nice too.

Nothing glamorous about Edith to me, the opposite in fact. But then I'm not a fan of those dusty old Wilfred and Harriet style names.

midsomermurderess · 29/01/2016 11:45

Edith. There is something of the glamorous Edwardian about it.

cbear000 · 29/01/2016 11:12

Lucy, Lucinda, love it

pilates · 29/01/2016 10:26

Lucy

unicornthong · 28/01/2016 11:19

My sister is a 16 year old Mary, I love her name! I don't like it with Josephine, though. It's a bit...nativity.

Edith is cute, but Lucy is my favourite of these.

Some other suggestions...

Laura
Anna
Ellen

To my ear, it's s bit sickly sweet and twee. But then I also dislike names like Poppy.

But hey, I'm not the name police! I just gave my opinion. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean I expect others to necessarily share that view. Otherwise my daughter would have a name in the top 100.

firefly78 · 27/01/2016 19:46

lentilstew whats wrong with Lucy?

IsItMeOr · 27/01/2016 19:45

The only Edith I know hates her name.

All a bit meh to me, I'm afraid.

NadiaWadia · 27/01/2016 19:43

Mary is a lovely classic name (I'm sure it's due for a revival) and would be unusual at the moment. That would be my favourite.

Lucy is also classic and pretty (though possibly a little frilly), but more common in recent years.

Edith is getting popular at the moment. It's funny, objectively I can see it's an attractive sounding name (and I do like the nickname Edie), but somehow I can't get the vibe of 'bossy posh old lady' out of my head, when I hear Edith! I am sure younger people probably won't have these associations, though.

StDogolphin · 27/01/2016 13:01

Lucy!

MouldyPeach · 27/01/2016 12:40

Hm, not really, in context.

LentilStew · 27/01/2016 12:30

Any of them but Lucy.
Josephine, Mary, Edith, all beautiful.

FarrowandBallAche · 27/01/2016 12:29

Strange reaction mouldy peach.

MouldyPeach · 27/01/2016 12:27

*beloved Edith's

MouldyPeach · 27/01/2016 12:27

Not Edith. Ugliest name ever.

Rude! If you'd read the thread you'd see there are clearly at least two people here with beloved Edies. I get you don't like the name but chill with the ugliest name ever BS.

/protective mother.

Sofiria · 27/01/2016 12:04

Lucy. Nothing wrong with the others, but I like Lucy best.

FarrowandBallAche · 26/01/2016 22:34

Not Edith. Ugliest name ever.

Feartheescalator · 26/01/2016 21:50

Sybil

Soooosie · 26/01/2016 21:44

Josephine is stunning!

Kittykatmacbill · 26/01/2016 21:43

Also biased Edith is a great name (although not a great sleeper in my case...)

cecilelliott · 26/01/2016 19:38

Mary is just lovely and has lots of nice nicknames-Molly/Polly etc

Will sound so fresh amid the Evies/Islas and Amelies. Sorry, names sounding fresh is my obsession!

Almost called DD this!

PetersonPeterson · 26/01/2016 13:36

Thank you! Love Meredith, whoever suggested that.

I'm biased but I love Edith nn Edie but be prepared for everyone to mishear it as Evie.

Love Lucy too but associate with an old family pet so I could never use it personally.

Don't like Mary at all I'm afraid, prefer Marie, Marianne etc type variations.
