I'm 34 weeks pregnant and still stuck for a name for dd3 on her way. I previously posted about the name Tiger and got mixed responses. It's still in the running though.
I'm drawn to the name Jean, dds 1&2 have 'old lady' names so it would work but I'm not sure if Jean is an ugly name. What do you think of when you hear it?

As an aside I absolutely love the name Billie-Jean but am in no way a Michael Jackson fan and I don't want to subject the poor girl to a lifetime of that! What other names sound nice hyphened with either Billie or Jean?

I like it as a middle name and I think it works with lots of names, like Jane does.

CormoranStrike · 24/01/2016 22:29

It is definitely not ugly, but is quite old. Jane is lovely though.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 24/01/2016 22:27

I love Jeanne, it's very chic. I like Jeanne-Marie even more.

Tiger's kind of ok if an evolved family nickname, but not as a given name.

Jeanniejampots80 · 24/01/2016 22:23

Oh and yes he Hi-jean think although only kids have laughed at that, Billie Jean song yes.... But worst of all was every night of college the song Daydream believer would come on with the line "cheer up sleepy Jean" .... I hate that song!!! Drunk people always telling me to cheer up..... Anyway :)

Jeanniejampots80 · 24/01/2016 22:21

Guess what my name is..... And God I hate it. Really think it is so boring and old. Was told recently that is was now a very cool hipster name Hmm I don't agree. Unfortunately no nickname has ever stuck outside of my family so who call me Jeannie but in summary.... I hate my own name Smile

MistressMerryWeather · 24/01/2016 22:17

I like Billie and Jean, either would be lovely on their own.

Sorry, but I think of Jean & Joan as very dreary, ugly names.

RiverTam · 24/01/2016 22:03

Joan is awful. I was at school with a Joan (I'm mid 40s) and she hated it and changed it as soon as she got the chance, I don't think she's gone by it since she was 18.

parrotonmyshoulder · 24/01/2016 21:23

Yeah, don'tkill. Nice enough for me to have another baby at 41? Almost, just for the gorgeousness of that name.

DontKillMyVibe · 24/01/2016 21:18

Joanie is v nice Parrot!

Forgetmenotblue · 24/01/2016 20:58

June?

parrotonmyshoulder · 24/01/2016 20:45

Love Jean and Joan. And Jeanie and Joanie.

My DD has an older, but not 'old lady' name. I love it. She's 6 now and people seem a bit taken aback by it sometimes. I don't mind that though, and she doesn't notice.

MouldyPeach · 24/01/2016 20:45

Haha I hadn't considered hi Jean / hygiene!

hepz do you mean you've only encountered awful Billies? Or something else?

FellOutOfBedTwice · 24/01/2016 20:44

Have a relation called Jeannie who does get "Jean Genie" sung at her a lot. David Bowie dying has not helped that but it could be consigned to the past by the time your daughter is older.

MouldyPeach · 24/01/2016 20:43

Thanks for the input everyone. I do not like Jeannie, can't explain why just an instant 'no'.

I know most people hate Tiger, found that out last time I posted on here, but I don't think that will stop me if she turns out looking like she'd suit the name orange and stripy

JeanGenie23 · 24/01/2016 20:43

I love it Smile

Sunshine511 · 24/01/2016 20:43

This is probably going to sound really weird but something I really hate about the name Jean is, if you say 'Hi Jean', it's like hygiene!! Haha. Sorry, I know that's weird but I know a lady called Jean and everytime I say it, it bothers me! Lol.x

Hepzibar · 24/01/2016 20:42

I like Jean.

OP please avoid Billie at all costs. It's dreadful. I work in education - it's dreadful believe me.

GreenRug · 24/01/2016 20:41

I love the name Jean, sounds simple but different, you don't hear it these days.

Provencalroseparadox · 24/01/2016 20:40

And I like Tiger

Provencalroseparadox · 24/01/2016 20:39

I like Jean

iciclewinter · 24/01/2016 20:39

I think Tiger is a great name.

Jean is a bit dull and Jeannie is too much like genie.

Madnson · 24/01/2016 20:38

Love love love Jean Smile

DontKillMyVibe · 24/01/2016 20:34

Jeannie much better IMO
