is the name of Coleen and Wayne Rooney's new DS. I must admit I wasn't expecting that and really like their choice (though was, of course, expecting another "K* name).

Kit is the best of the three (first) names they have chosen.
It will be tagged with footy/football kit though without a doubt.
Don't get why same-initial themes are popular with parents but each to their own and all that

LentilStew · 29/01/2016 22:37

Liam

LentilStew · 29/01/2016 22:36

Kathy, I once posted that I taught a child called James whose brother was Hamish. Apparently mum only found out when James was 2 that Hsmish is James.
Another poster then said, yep, she taught a Lism whose brother was William.

But then along comes another poster to beat us all by telling us about the 2 sisters called Margaret. Apparently the parents thought it ok as they were both called after different people! Grin Grin Grin

hawkmcqueen · 29/01/2016 22:20

Oh no! I was just saying the three names to my DH and tripped over them and came out with Kai, Klay and Klit... Maybe not the best combination because I can't be the only one who will stumble over them!

KathyBeale · 29/01/2016 22:08

I really like Kit as a nickname for Christopher. Like Kit Marlowe. But not keen on it on its own. Much better than Klay, though, which is just dreadful (tho it does remind me of Clay Davis in The Wire - sheeeeeeeit).

Talking of nicknames, Simon Gregson, who is in Corrie, has three boys too - the third was born in December. The middle one is Harry and the new baby is Henry. That's the same name!

MrsRV · 29/01/2016 22:02

I just tried to say Kai Klay & Kit and ended up with Klit 😮

LentilStew · 29/01/2016 20:08

Why are people saying it's not a name. Historically, Kit was the nn for Christopher.

kittylh · 29/01/2016 19:59

I love Kit, but really dislike Christopher and for me, Kit just seems incomplete as a full name. Much preferred as a nickname. I do love it so though.

Sofiria · 27/01/2016 12:10

I really love Kit as a nickname for Christopher. Less so on its own, but it's miles better than the ridiculousness that is Klay.

Ilovegummibaers · 26/01/2016 14:19

Kit makes me think of sports kit or some other kit, not a name.

And yes, post addressed to Mr K Rooney....

PalaceGirl · 25/01/2016 21:22

Nickname at school: Kit Kat

calzone · 25/01/2016 20:46

According to the news, they are being trolled for having KKK......

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/01/2016 09:46

Kit Joseph is lovely. Much better than his brothers names.

Pigeonpost · 25/01/2016 09:41

KKK!!! Holy shit. Surely someone would have pointed out the inappropriateness of that to them...

hownottofuckup · 24/01/2016 23:30

Joseph's a lovely name.

neonrainbow · 24/01/2016 23:28

Kit isnt a proper name I've no idea why its so popular on here.

nooka · 24/01/2016 23:28

Plus if you say the names together they seem to either turn into Kai, Kay, Kit or Kai, Klay, Klit. Which is a bit unfortunate Grin

nooka · 24/01/2016 23:27

Kit is a nice shortening for Christopher. I don't like it as a stand alone name and I do think it's a bit of a surprising name for a sporty family as 'kit' is so commonly used as slang for sports equipment.

I really dislike the trend of calling all your children the same initial, and think that Klay is just awful. I'd be a bit uncomfortable about children with the initials KKK, so I hope they plan to have at least one more child.

AmyC86 · 24/01/2016 23:26

Kit, not sure on the name tbh.

Agree with the fact that it'll be crossed off a lot of lists now as the popularity will increase, especially around the Northwest. Grin

Also agree that it's rather a mouthful to say all three together, Kai Klay & Kit especially with a scouse drawl.

Don't really understand the K theme but each to their own.

Pigeonpost · 24/01/2016 23:10

Kit is a fab name. I still don't understand Klay though. And why all K's anyway?

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 24/01/2016 23:06

Isn't Kit the traditional diminutive for Christopher?
I like it.

I really dislike Kai though and dislike Klay even more.

HerbieRidesAgain · 24/01/2016 23:00

Nice enough name, not my choice but its my favourite of all 3 of their chosen names. Mind I wouldn't want to say all three names quickly Grin

Sophronia · 24/01/2016 22:59

It's nice. Definitely prefer it to Klay!

Laquila · 24/01/2016 22:17

I mentioned this to my husband earlier and he said looked puzzled and said, "Kit...as in bag?" Hmm
