What do you think of this for a girls name? :) And what else might I like?

Flora is gorgeous.

Freya
Marnie
Sadie
Tessa
Nancy

But I don't think you'll find a better name than Flora.

Looseleaf · 18/01/2016 21:13

I love Flora.
Also love Imogen and Georgia, can't think of anything else but hope you find the right name!

Lara
Melissa
Coralie
Olivia
Anna
Georgia
Miranda

PunkrockerGirl · 18/01/2016 21:03

I like it because I'm a huge Jilly Cooper fan, not because of the margarine connection Wink

originalmavis · 18/01/2016 21:00

I still remember when it was 'the margerine for men'.

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/01/2016 20:59

For me I can't get past the old margarine tag line "spreads like butter". Whilst you might not watch tv, many people do and will have that as a point of reference.

Hiddlesnake · 18/01/2016 20:58

Kids will make a nickname out of everything - I know Laura's who suffered the Flora spread jibe just because of the rhyme.

Personally I love the name Flora, and Florrie too.

AuntieStella · 18/01/2016 20:57

Flora is a pretty name, but the margarine association is very strong.

Others to consider: Polly, Elsie, Doris, Maude, Beulah, Pearl, Ethel, Nell, Tilly

I've never heard the 'spreads easily' tag to be honest, although I don't really watch a lot of TV.

I know I'm being really fussy but none of the above names are really to my taste!

I think Flora is lovely, very lovely indeed. I'm sure others will be along to say do't do it because of the spread but I wouldn't let that put you off.

ItchyArmpits · 18/01/2016 20:48

I am really sorry to say this, but you might want to consider the playground taunts that a name is likely to inspire.

Flora = spreads easily.

(heard it in the playground not long ago. Again, sorry)

originalmavis · 18/01/2016 20:44

Fiona/Fionna

Sunshine511 · 18/01/2016 20:41

I love Flora and would have considered it but for some reason, I really don't like the nn Flo so was put off by the risk they might end up called that. Gorgeous name though.

Other possibilities could be:

Nora
Clara
Orla
Ruby
Gina
Nina
Florence
Cara

Hope this helps x
