Expecting a girl, and really struggling to choose a name. I had boy names sorted but finding it too hard to narrow down the favourites! Here is our list:

Emma
Alice
Freya
Mia
Ava
Layla
Amelie
Isla

I think Amelie or Alice are top of the list at the moment. What do you think?

I like Emma best of the list.

I also like Mia and Ava but Emma is more timeless.

Grumpyoldblonde · 15/01/2016 13:36

They are all nice although I am not keen on Isla personally. I had a long list of names but when my daughter was born she looked nothing like any of them and I chose a completely different name - one of which is on your list. See what she looks like when she is born and what goes best with the surname.

Emma!

CPtart · 15/01/2016 14:03

Emma is lovely.
Not another Ava, Isla or Mia. Loads about. And Layla is really not nice.
How about Louisa, Erica, Alicia, Natalia, Melissa?

Grumpyoldblonde · 15/01/2016 14:06

What's wrong with Layla? (am very offended!) Erica is horrid, very harsh

imsorryiasked · 15/01/2016 14:25

Emma is the only one not at ds's school.
But I prefer Available.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/01/2016 14:32

I like Emma.

Have you considered Flora or Lara.

BikeRunSki · 15/01/2016 14:33

Alice has worked extremely well for me Smile

I also like Emma.

BikeRunSki · 15/01/2016 14:34

Available 😄

Ilovepercypigs3 · 15/01/2016 14:37

Thanks for the help- I do really like Emma in terms of it being timeless and same with Alice. I think Mia, Ava etc are a bit trendy for me really.
I think it should be a 21st century rule to write the name on a phone before confirming. My friend likes Orla and then realised it gets autocorrected to Oral!!

Emma is a lovely name, and , as others have said, there are very few around these days, so it will sound very fresh.

Alice also nice but slightly more popular

The others are all lovely-sounding names but seem rather "of the moment" and there are lots around.

Sophronia · 15/01/2016 15:30

Emma or Alice.

PinkFairy22 · 15/01/2016 16:09

Alice or Freya

How about Clara?

ashesandfire · 15/01/2016 18:34

I love Emma, Alice, Freya
Other suggestions. Anna, Lydia, Louisa, Eliza, Cora, Clara, Nina.

MarjorieWinklepicker · 15/01/2016 18:39

Alice is my favourite and I would totally use it if I was ever to have any more dc.

I like Freya too but that's probably because dd2's best friend is called Freya and she is the most adorable 4 year old.

SoWhite · 15/01/2016 18:52

Alice was the best. It is so chic and classic.

hawkmcqueen · 15/01/2016 20:34

I really like Emma and Alice as they are classic. Also have only known lovely Emmas.

I give you Alyssa for consideration.

Unoriginalusername123 · 15/01/2016 20:35

Alice and Emma are timeless and gorgeous.

Sofiria · 15/01/2016 21:51

Funny to see people mentioning Emma as being relatively unusual - there were 6 Emmas in my year at school! Of course, that was some time ago and a little Emma born this year probably wouldn't have that problem.

All your names are nice but I particularly like Ava and Alice. I'd also suggest Ada.

Borninthe60s · 19/01/2016 19:36

All lovely and very popular.

FarrowandBallAche · 19/01/2016 20:03

Alice
