Thomas or Matthew?

Just that really. Think we're (finally!) down to our final two names for DS1, due imminently!

It would really help if you could vote for your favourite, with reasons if possible. We'll likely wait and see what he looks like too, but in the meantime we'd love to get an idea of what people think of the two choices.

DD is Naomi if that makes a difference.

Matthew here too!

When friend Tom was a teacher there were 7 Toms in his class. DS has 3 in his class. (He's an Alex and there are so many of them that they all get called by their surnames!).

It's the opposite for me. Matthew is the one I seem to hear all the time these days whereas I don't know any baby Toms.

Matthew definitely. Thomas is a tad boring, just seems to be all over the place at the moment. Matthew sounds more fresh.

Two fabulous names but my cote goes to Matthew as Thomas is just so popular.

Matthew/Matt is a fab name though. And goes well with Naomi.

Thomas - no chance of misspelling it - i'm doing party invitations for DS and have no idea whether his little friend is Matthew or Mathew. Thomas is easy :)

I couldn't use either name (close family members) but I think both are lovely. Slight preference for Matthew but whatever you choose you're onto a winner

Well Matthew wins on here but obviously irl people prefer Thomas as it's much more popular.
I like both.

I prefer Thomas, despite the train, a name you really can't go wrong with throughout all stages of life. Matthew just doesn't look or sound as nice to me. And the nickname Matt, which I imagine he will be called a lot, just doesn't have the same appeal as the handsome Tom!

Which sounds better with your surname, perhaps that will help you separate the two?

Thomas is my fave boys name that i never got to use! Wink but matthew is lovely too. You'll know which ones right when you see him.
