Gus! What do you think of it?

And can I just have gus? Or should it be Fergus/Angus with gus as the nn?

Great NN but defo go for Fergus or Angus (which are great names) so he has the choice when he's older.

I know a fella called Augustus- he gets people to call him Neil Grin I like it though!

Magnus is seriously cool. I'd doubt any child of mine could pull off such coolness.
I hear what you say about names that make you squirm. I like Fergus in its own right so could be a good contender.

I don't think you should pick a full name (even one that won't be used that often) that makes you squirm even slightly. Fergus, Angus, and plain old Gus are all perfectly fine options. There's also Magnus which is very cool, but the Gus link is a bit more tenuous.

I don't think I'd ever use gustav. I'd always say gus- but I know what you mean. A girls name I love sounds pretentious as fuck (but I love it) is only ever use the shortening but still the inability to be able to use the full version in public without feeling Blush puts me off!

Yes, Gustav is a bit tryhard. Ask yourself if you'd feel self conscious shouting 'GUSTAV COME HERE' in a crowded supermarket and there's your answer.

DS1 and DS2 are Angus and Fergus - we're lazy namers - definitely go for a longer version. Neither of their nn are Gus.

Yes you could just have Gus. No law about full names on BC or you could put Augustus on his BC or Gustav

It's great but I'd put Angus or Fergus (both fab names) on the birth certificate to give him a choice.
