Would it be wrong to name my son Albus? I can't decide if it is too odd to name a child after an mad elderly fictional wizard. I liked the Harry Potter books and just like the sound of the name. We would probably call him Albie for short. What do you think?

I do like Albie though.

However, I'm less less keen on Albie/Alfie/Archie type names, think they will soon sound very dated.

Love Albus - cool, classic and not overused. By the time he goes to school, the Harry Potter books won't be that 'currrent' anymore.

Love it. He'd be named after one of Hogwarts greatest headmaster's. Different is good. Disclaimer* I have a deathly hallows tattoo on my wrist and am wearing Harry Potter pj's.

Probably not the most helpful comment, but I saw this in active threads and wondered why you wanted to name a child AIBUs! Haven't read Harry Potter, so can't add anything helpful about that either, but it does sound like a cute retro name.

I would think the Dumbledore link is just too strong. It's a nice enough name but I would feel a bit sorry for the kid. But you know, in 10, 15 years it may just be fine.
