Ryan or Teddy?

DH and I, have gone through thousands of names; there's loads of names we like, but only 2 we both agree on! :(

DD is Olivia Autumn and our LN is Stephens...

So, Ryan or Teddy?

Please don't suggest longer forms, for Teddy, it's just going to be Teddy.

I think Teddy stops being cute at about 3 and there are so many of them.

Prefer Ryan.

Ryan is one of my most favourite boys names but sounds silly with my surname so I'll never use it.

There are sooooo many Teddy's around at the moment but if you were to choose it please register as Theodore or Edward with Teddy as the nn.

I find Ryan quite dated. Teddy is lovely. Edward is on my list of baby names, & I would shorten it to Teddy when they were a baby, then maybe Ted or Ed as they got older.

Teddy just sounds silly, and actively invites teasing.

Teddy is a bear, isn't it? It sounds so cutesy and childish, sorry.

I'm not keen on Ryan either but if I had to choose one, then it would have to be this one.

I actually have a Teddy. He is 3, so born before the apparent surge in popularity, and in Australia, where it is much less popular anyway. But he is Edward on bc. I wouldn't have chosen Teddy for the bc, so I vote for Ryan, which I quite like.

Really sorry but Teddy Stephens makes me think of a toy on Playaway (showing my age - was that Big Ted and Little Ted?!) or the name of a programme on CBBC. It is incredibly popular at the moment too and not particularly great for anyone over 5.

Ryan - I don't really like that either if I'm honest - despite it being a relative's name Blush but its OK. Its quite unusual these days and there probably won't be 10 other Ryans in his class as schools like there would be with Teddy.

I agree with mitzy, too many Teddy's.
Seems like every thread for boys names has Ted/Teddy, Theodore in it.

So for that reason, I vote for Ryan. Something a bit different.

Ryan. I don't particularly like it but it's better than Teddy.

What the hell is going on with Ted and Teddy that every other boy being born at the moment is being given this name??
