I really need opinions on this, I love Teddy, but I know it probably isn't suitable for an adult... I have considered all the other names it's a diminutive of, but I think they all have a more obvious NN (Ed/Eddie / Theo, etc.) :)

There's a character in The School For Good And Evil called Tedros... unusual but would still give you Teddy?

Don't call him Teddy, it would sound stupid in a grown man. If you're that set on it, call him Edward or Edmund or Theodore.

No, no, no! I saw someone on tv the other week, I think he had been on American Idol or something and he was call Todrick, it sounds ridiculous, as does Tedrick.

You could use Theodore, Thaddeus, Edward or Edwin, but please don't give your child a made up name.

No, please don't use it. Theodore is good. Edward is good. Tedrick is not.

why would ted not be suitable for an adult? I think it's a heck of a lot better than Ted-Rick....my parents couldn't make up their mind.

Tedrick doesn't sound like a real name to me. I'd choose Edward/Theodore for the traditional Teddy names, go for one of the other Ed names, use a name that is associated with bears (Rupert?) and go for Teddy that way. Or just use it as a pet name - lots of nick names have very little to do with what's on the birth certificate!

What about Edric? A name with lots of history (Google "Wild Edric"). I wanted it for DS but DH vetoed it, the git.

I went to school with an Edward - he was always Teddy and still is... He says he wishes he was just Teddy, as doctors, etc. call him Edward
