I really need opinions on this, I love Teddy, but I know it probably isn't suitable for an adult... I have considered all the other names it's a diminutive of, but I think they all have a more obvious NN (Ed/Eddie / Theo, etc.) :)

I know a Tedbar, which is a proper old but rarely used name. Person I know is elderly. I like it.

Theodore or any Ed- name on the birth certificate! He won't be known as Theo or Ed if you call him Ted/Teddy when he's small.

I know a child named just Teddy. It's adorable on a baby/small child but I think it's a shame he won't have the choice of using a more formal name when he's older.

Tedrick just sounds like a Ted/Frederick smush, and silly. Sorry!

I was christened with a nickname - I've changed my name by deed poll to the real name. It's just too embarrassing as an adult to constantly have to persuade banks/companies/employers that yes, your name really is just x.

I don't think it would be mistaken for Frederick... Think about it, it isn't much different to Danny & Sammy - they wouldn't be mistaken. I wouldn't use the name, but I don't think it would be mistaken for something else. If someone hasn't heard of it before, they may repeat it, to make sure it is that, but that's about it :)

If you Google, Tedrick is a real name, a variation of Derek or Theodore, but largely used as a surname. However, it's not very well known and I think will be repeatedly mistaken for Frederick.

I think because of "how I met your mother" Ted is a common nn of Theodore these days and Theo is generally a name on it's own now. Tedrick sounds a bit silly but I'm sure people would get used to it if you used it.
