Just musing but which one do you prefer.

I have no probs with using Shakespearean names as such - but Ophelia... What depressing connotations, I can't see why anyone would give a newborn girl that name

The thing about newborns is they do tend to grow into adults

I love them all.
Andromeda is my too girls name, I would love to call my baby this. Although in greek it isn't pronounced as we say it in English.
Persephone is also in my top 5.
Elektra, and Olympia are also beautiful. I loved pandora but everyone has a bracelet now which has kind of spoilt it a bit.

I can't heard Persephone without thinking 'Percy Phone' which is a shame as I think it's lovely.

Logically I know that Persephone isn't pronounced Percy-Phone but it SO is every time in my head (but then again I think of my cousin Penny's full name as Penny-lope rather than Penelope).

I quite like Ophelia but think that nominative determination would happen and I'd end up with a melodramatic teen.

Titania is OK...if you ignore the fact that it starts with Tit and that would be the inevitable form of teasing (particularly if said child was either early or late to bloom in the breast department).

Andromeda is just a bit 60s hippy - but that could be because I used to work with one (known day-to-day as Andi)

I know of two little girls named Persephone and I used to have a cat with the same name so I think it's gorgeous. Nicknamed Persey and Seffy.

And honestly, anyone with the name Persephone will have exactly the same pronunciation "issues" that little Hermione, Antigone or Ptolemy would, and they seem to be universally loved on mn.

OP, Persephone is definitely the prettiest followed by Ophelia and Andromeda.

Along the same lines as Penelope and Persephone there's Mnemosyne, which I really like (and her story isn't bad, compared to lots of the Greek names) but don't think I could ever use it.

I liked Persephone if we'd had a DD (which we didn't) but was put off by the fact that she'd forever have people thinking her name was pronounced "persa fone"

In all likelihood she'd be called Seph or Percy as an adult.

If you're too worried about the name how about Stephanie? It's very similar.

Andromeda sounds like a space shuttle.

Titania is just cruel. She'll have boob jokes fired at her constantly at senior school.

Persephone is a lovely name, but most people would call her 'Percy Phone' so you are risking it a bit. I still think the name is nice and wouldn't mind a little Persephone if I was still having babies!

I wouldn't use any of them, but if I had to choose I'd go for Persephone, because I like the nn Sephy.

Persephone is gorgeous and the shortening Sephy or Effie are lovely

I like Ophelia too but wouldn't use it myself. Also know a little Seraphine which is a fab name too

Daysleeper well, that would make those people utter twats, wouldn't it? Ripping someone apart because of the name their parents chose for them? Nice Hmm. You sound almost proud of that.

Ophelia is nice, I like the pronunciation Off-ay-lia (as in the little girl in Pan's Labyrinth).

I grew up with one, she was never teased at all and her name was normally shortened to Phe

givepeasachance what's "wrong" with John and Emma is they are complete run of the mill, average, play it safe names we've heard 1000s of times before. They are not memorable or individual and I think far worse of parents (i.e. BORING!!) who choose names like these than ones daring to be slightly different.
