Romeo or Paris

Not really dead set on these names but I really like them for now, it's for a boy, I'm currently leaning towards Paris but it changes by the day, opinions are also welcome.

Nephew, so you had no choice in the name. And as a nephew, not a son, you clearly don't know everything that goes on at school. Even parents don't.
Romeo is fine if you like, have a real interest in Shakespeare worship the Beckams If not, just why?
Paris, just no.
Pretentious, ill thought out and wanky imo.

Baby Romeo and Paris may be cute not
But does nobody think how these names translate into adulthood.

I'm not keen on either, but I knew a couple of (male) Parises growing up and it was honestly never a 'weird' name. MN has weird ideas about which names are and aren't normal/faddy/going to cause bullying. (I'm late twenties and grew up in London, if you'd like demographic context for 'Paris as fairly normal boys name'.)

Paris isn't girly, at all.

Just because people have heard of Paris Hilton (poor woman's been given the name of a blimmin hotel, so parents were clearly a bit crap as far as names are concerned!).

I don't really like either, though, OP.

I like Hector, though, so we obviously have different taste in names.

My nephew is most definitely not a "poor little fucker" he's 11 and has just gone into Yr 7, it really isn't an issue... It's just another name

Secondary school is another matter.
Set your dc up for a lifetime of ridicule if you must. But it's fine, you like it, that's what matters.

I'm pretty sure there is also a male Paris in Romeo & Juliet... They are both very faddy names IMO and will date very, very quickly. In fact I think they're already dated. If you have to pick one then Romeo is marginally better. Roman is an improvement although will also date quickly I think.

I'm not a fan of either. Although I'm aware of Paris in Greek mythology, my first thought would be of Paris Hilton. And Romeo - isn't that one of the Beckhams' children?

Neither - definitely not Paris. That would be a very difficult name for your child to go through life with (and I like unusual names).

If not leaping straight to Shakespeare, then Romeo makes me think of Romeo Challenger. Drummer of Showaddywaddy, and the person who played that instantaneously recognisable intro to 'Under the Moon of Love'

What about Roman? Common in some parts of Europe. I'd pick Rome over Romeo. If I had to.

@eastwest I sadly don't like Hector, it's a nice name but for some reason Romeo and Paris won't leave my mind.

They're both very 'oh we are so wonderfully literary' in my eyes.

If you have to use one, I'd go Romeo. Paris is much more feminine, I think of it as a girls name.
