Do you know any Benedict's?

I love love love this name, dsis thinks is a bit aspirational and used either by posh or wannabe posh? Does this fit with those you know?

I love Benjamin, it is super cute in my head but also associated with distinguished people in the past. Benedict is more formal.

Punctuation lesson:

Benedict's = possessive (eg: Benedict's hat)
Benedicts = plural.

I know one 15 yo one - mc but not religious at all just used as an alternative to Benjamin (parents felt it was less 'common' than Benjamin Confused).
But always, always known as Ben

I know two, both religious families, one catholic, one vvvv not. Both now aged 10+ so not babies. Both Ben to family.

My godson (5) is Benedict, Catholic and fairly 'posh' family. Never shortened.
Know of a 2 year old Benedict who is known as Ned.

I went to primary school with a Benedict. Catholic, but working-class! It's a lovely name but I'd be surprised if a little Benedict wasn't from a Catholic family.

Yes I do. He's known as Ben though. I don't know what he's like now , mind but he was the sweetest and politest little boy you could have wished to meet. Why are you considering it.

I don't know any but quite like it. I suppose it's very slightly on the posh side but doesn't sound ridiculously posh IMO. It does sound a little religious maybe but there are plenty of names that have some kind of religious connontations so I wouldn't let that stop you.

I didn't realise quite how many we knew until I started writing Christmas cards this year. I think nearly all our friends have kids called some combination of Benedict, Alexander and Rebecca Hmm.

Yes he was named after the pope at the time. I think they just call him Ben though.

Yes, my elder brother, he's 21. Nobody calls him Ben! We're a Catholic family and, I daresay, what would be termed "posh" also. Grin

It is DS' middle name. Not religious (or posh Grin - I just love that character in Shakespeare.

Recently it has started to cause issues with people taking the mickey about the Batch though, which is annoying.
