Congratulations. Both lovely names. I wouldn't worry about older dc being able to pronounce the name properly, ds1 couldn't pronounced ds2's name (also a long name, similar in type to these) and called him the closest he could manage - that nickname has stuck and now ds2 is known within the house as the name ds1 used to call him Grin

Both names are lovely. I know a few f baby Alexander so it seems popular to me but that might not bother you.

I like Sebastian much more than Alexander, it's so classy and cool.

Also I think Xander is way overused, there are enough Xanders already.

I love Sebastian. I really don't like Alex (I think it sounds really wet), although I don't mind Alexander. They just never get called the full of it

I prefer Alexander as I don't like the nickname Seb at all.

Also think Sebastian sounds pretentious (apologies to anyone who has one).

Popularity wise there isn't actually much between the names. Last year Alexander was 22nd and Sebastian was 38th.

Sebastian as its less common, though I prefer the Sabastian spelling as the NN Sab, is IMHO better than Seb
