Honest opinion on our girls name....

Hi we have a little girl due in May and we have been talking a lot about names recently. We both love the name Arabella which we would team with the middle name Rose (I know Rose is quite common but it's got a lot of meaning to me and I'm keen to stick to that middle name) what are your thoughts on the name Arabella Rose ? We would likely shorten Arabella to Belle (I prefer Belle to Bella) please honest opinions. Thanks : )

Arabella is a gorgeous name love it. Known as "belle" lovely! Congratulations Flowers

I know what you mean indole. Annabels and Isabel's seem to be having their moment at the moment. This sort of put me off the name Arabella as I didn't know if it was too similar to all the popular 'Bella' names but I'm hoping its just a little more unusual?

Arabella is lovely. I am mystified by the love for Annabel and Isabel (plus variants) that seems to abound on MN, though!

Oh yes I'd never thought of it that way paddletonio. Oh no, I hope I don't rapidly go off the name as its the only one both my husband and I can agree on! : )

Quite nice but I prefer annabel. The thing that seems odd is it is just Arab with Ella on it.

Thank you : ) Yes I do worry about how common bella has become and I'm really not all too keen on 'Bella' I just really loved Arabella for some reason. I do like Belle too and don't think it's as common as Bella?

I'm not so keen but that might be because I didn't like the Arabella in Jude the Obscure, I've only ever met one other and she seemed nice enough Grin

I quite like Belle.

I love it!!

Prefer Isabella. Dont hate Arabella though. I know loads and loads of Bellas, Belle's, isabellas, isobels etc etc etc.. If that doesn't bother you go for it.Xx
