So you spend ages picking a name.

And ten years later they say its too common, or weird, or not double barreled.

My Dd wants to be called Olivia-Mae or Wednesday.

Any one else DC wants a name change? Xmas Grin

Ds said he likes his name, Dd1 picked Skye, dd2 said Lily.

SingingSands · 26/12/2015 01:17

We recently had this conversation at home. DD loves her name, but did admit she also likes the name Hermione.
DH made a massive "I knew it!" face to me. Hermione was his first choice name for DD, but she was born in 2004, right in the middle of massive Harry Potter hype so I vetoed it. Shame really, she would have totally rocked that name. It had been DH's favourite girl's name for years.

JakeyBurd · 26/12/2015 01:08

My children are quite happy with their names, but I remember desperately wanting to be called Maureen when I was small. I hero-worshipped a slightly older cousin of that name and just wanted to be her. My mum wouldn't agree to calling me Maureen so I named my doll that instead. Blush

NotMeNotYouNotAnyone · 24/12/2015 16:13

I've always hated my name (it's unusual with no obvious nickname) but since acquiring a surname based nickname as an adult have gotten over wishing for other names

Sameshitdiffname · 24/12/2015 13:13

My sister(21) still hates the fact her name isn't Camilla... I don't think it was ever even an option!

MrsGradyOldLady · 24/12/2015 13:03

DD (8) always wanted to be called Jessica. All her teddies are called Jessica, jessie or jess. Except the boy ones. They're called Jed. Or Barry.

Raines100 · 24/12/2015 12:25

DS1 (age 6): Awesome Skill
DS2 (age 4): Awesome Snowman

I'll get the deed poll paperwork pronto...

Mothersruin75 · 24/12/2015 09:12

Sorry for late reply was trying to sort house out and failing. It is Lily - we really haven't come across many certainly not at school (she's a 2 form intake school too) or other classes.

ExBallerina · 23/12/2015 23:00

She told me she wants to be known as J-Cool from now on. She's 3.

Her name doesn't even start with a J.

IWannaHoldYourHand · 23/12/2015 22:52

Ds1, aged 6 isn't fussed.

Ds2, aged 5 doesn't understand why we didn't name him Sue. He's been asking us why we didn't call him Sue. He's a Sooty and Jonny Cash fan.

dementedma · 23/12/2015 22:36

I have a Rosie - its a cool name! Grin

dimdommilpot · 23/12/2015 22:34

DD1 is 5 and wants to be called Rosie. No idea where is has come from but she keeps asking why she isnt called Rosie.

tellmeofthetime · 23/12/2015 22:16

DS 1(age 36) likes his first name because it's uncommon in his age group, but detests his middle name (Richard)
DD 1(34) would like anything but her very fashionable at the time name (think along the lines of Sarah, Claire, Victoria)
DS 2(29) shortened his name as soon as he was old enough and never ever uses his proper name
DD 2(23) loves her three names and would never change them
DD 3(21) thinks her first name is meh and would like to be called by her third name (brooke)

tshirtsuntan · 23/12/2015 20:53

Wolverine

Claraoswald36 · 23/12/2015 20:49

Dd1 wants to be called Rosetta (we are die hard tinkerbell fans in this house)
Dd2 is quite content with her own name, Elodie

gatewalker · 23/12/2015 20:46

My DS (8), who has an Old Testament name, has just informed me that he'd like to have been called Mohammed. He likes his name, but Mohammed is preferential.

thegiddylimit · 23/12/2015 20:39

DD1 Ella (but she does love her own name, apparently it's 'cool')
DD2 Elsa (she may just be a little bit obsessed with Frozen)

DS (aged 3) has only just started telling everyone his name (first name and surname always) so I suspect is quite happy with it at the moment.

Shesinfashion · 23/12/2015 20:27

DD1 really loves her name.
DD2 couldn't care less either way about her name.

Holidayrash · 23/12/2015 19:50

Daisy

emilybrontescorset · 23/12/2015 17:19

Dd1 Scarlett
DS Ryan
Dd2 chloe

GingirlBells · 23/12/2015 13:41

DS1 and 2 are both happy with their names. DS1 has a very common name, but doesn't seem phased by all the others around with the same name. Oddly, he gets called by a shortened form by his friends and teachers, but family are only allowed to call him by his full name. DS2 won't let anyone, friends or family, shorted his and gets annoyed when we inadvertently do! DS3 wants to be called Arthur because that's his best friends name. Grin

Kim82 · 23/12/2015 13:38

Dd aged 11 says she likes her name and wouldn't want to change it.

Dd aged 8 isn't sure. She does like her name and can't think of anything at the moment she would prefer. I have to "leave it with her" for now while she thinks about it.

MrsBungle · 23/12/2015 13:32

I've just asked dd (6) and she said Delphi Confused I then asked ds (3) and he said Ruggan. I think we will be sticking with my choices.

smartyclogs · 23/12/2015 13:31

Have just asked Dd (13) and she said Claire.

Acostapurposes · 23/12/2015 12:53

Of course it's Lily!
