Minnie Bow Butler, or Lydia Helen Butler?

Baby girl due in Feb Smile

I'm undecided, the first one sounds like she'll be a celeb, the other one is very solid/strong and would do well as a professional name.

Lydia. By a mile.

Lydia Helen - really lovely.
If you do use Minnie it needs a different middle name IMO. Minnie Helen would give her the option of using her mn if she wanted to if, as you say, work or marriage made Minnie less desirable.

I prefer Lydia. I think Minnie Bow would sound daft when she's grown up.

Bear in mind that in some parts of the country, Minnie is a child's word for female genitals.

I would go for Lydia anyway. Fab name.

Minnie Bow sounds silly tbh. If you go with Minnie I'd choose a middle name that isn't an object.

Lydia

Lydia is one of my favourite names so I prefer that one

And much as I love Minnie Mouse I just think Minnie as a child's name is too twee and sickly and I don't like it

Chockablocks · 19/12/2015 13:51

ender her surname will be Butler, so let's hope she doesn't marry a Cooper! Yes, it would just be Minnie, not a shortened nickname for a another name etc. I imagine a little girl with a strong personality when I think of the name :)

But, I really do love Lydia and have always imagined by daughter being called as such.

As Minnie Mouse wears a bow, Minnie Bow is not a combination that I'd go for. Would she be Minnie on her birth certificate? Minnie is very cute but a no-go if your surname is Cooper.

Lydia Helen is the complete opposite- very sensible and strong.
