Would you use the same names if your were naming now?

I dont know if I would choose the same names because I might be a different person.

However, I am happy with my DC's names.

Nope. Loved them then and still love them now. I have 5DC so am loathe to name I'm afraid, but despite all being in the top 15 since DC 1 was born 23 years ago to DC5 7 years ago, I wouldn't change any of them.

They were chosen because we loved the names. All suit perfectly.

Yes, I am convinced that DS has the best possible name and would definitely choose it again given the choice. He absolutely loves it, too. I feel quite smug about it, actually!

DC1 - yes I would choose a different name now
DC2 - No , I 100%love the name

I would change my eldest dc name. I was 17 when I had her so she got a 'cool' americanised name. She is 13, she likes it and we don't know another one so that's a bonus. I also wish I would have named my 2 year old ds George. I adore it and it's a family name. He was born around the same time as Prince George and I had my heart set on it. Kate pipped me to the post and gave birth first and it really put me off. I can see him being schooled with a few of them but it's still one of my favourite names of all

I would use the same name, but be more insisistent that the full name be used instead of a shortened version. She was 3 years old before I realised that the nickname had stuck and it was too late to change it. now everyone (except me) uses the nickname.

A sleb recently used my son's (unusual) name for a child; I doubt it will have a huge popularity surge but I'd have chosen something different if I'd known.

I have an Isabella, Alexander and Lily. Very popular names that I still love but I would have liked Francesca for dd2. Dc4's name is a very very unusual family name so will keep that to myself for now!

My son has a friend up the road called Gregor (Scottish Dad, but we live in the south of England) and it sounds so amazing in a Scottish accent.

I had a boyfriend at school called Keir - always viewed it as a strong name!

Oh yes I would. Dd's name suits her perfectly and she likes it. DS we wavered between 2 names but I thought one was more him once he arrived and I am so sure now he's at school that it's right.
Both names reflect people we admire :)

Yes for dc1, 2 and 4. They are as perfect now as when we chose them.

Dc3 has my preferred name as her middle name as dh really doesn't like it. I would switch her first name and middle name round the 'right' way

Okay grumpy I've repasted mine and added in the names but slightly changed as it's easier to be spotted when you have two!

DS1 (Craig) had a compromise name which was chosen from the 2 compromises we agreed on. I sometimes wish we'd gone for the other one (Gregor). However, when we had DS2 (Keir) I got closer to what I would have chosen for DS1 (Kerr) given free choice. He has a more unusual name than DS1 however if we'd use the alternative compromise name for DS1 then we couldn't have used the name we did for DS2 as they are difficult to say together.

So after all that, I don't know :o

Eldest DD name is popular but all the others are naughty ... makes me wonder ... In nusery I would have to say no!! Name ... B not T .. just to make sure.
DD2 has a popstars name who came after her birth ... so a bit cringy but suits her.
DS has his dads middle name.

My DD is Natalie, a name I've always loved, turns out it's quite unusual these days (she's only met one other Natalie under the age of 20 and it is number 297 in the baby names list). She is 12. She likes it because it means 'born at Christmas' and her birthday is in June :)

I'm a bit meh about her middle name (Jane) which balances out 3 syllable first and surnames when you say them out loud. Jane is nice and classic, I just might have chosen something else.

DS1 - would use the same name, although it isn't very exciting and is popular for dogs.

DS2 - I would have campaigned harder for my first choice, Jacob. He is called a compromise name, Nathan, which I love but DH doesn't pronounce 'th' properly so avoids saying it.

DD has a nickname-type name which I love but I would give her the full version if I had the chance to name her again. I didn't because I had a girl with that name in my class when DD was born.

I have two boys and love both their names. However, DS1's name has just skyrocketed in terms of popularity. I thought it would be a recognised but unusual choice. Now there are billions of them, so for that reason alone I might reconsider it now (although I can't imagine him being called anything else!)

We did much better with DS2, have only come across one other since we had him 3 years ago.

Now expecting DC3 so the pressure to find a name is starting again!

Adore both children's names. Both are classic and will never go out of fashion - DD name is slightly more unusual (as in not currently all that popular) but both are strong, conventional names.

DC1 yes - it suits and it is that lucky combination of "well known" and "uncommon" (at least round here) at the same time.

DC2 - Oliver. One of three in his class. I should have had a bit more courage and gone for Kit instead. He suits his name but would suit Kit too.

DC3 - fine but I hardly use it as he's almost universally known by an unrelated nickname which we wouldn't have put on the birth certificate. If I'd been slightly braver with DC2 I could probably have been slightly braver with DC3 and he might have been Robert (Robin) which is a family name that needs reviving.

ds - I'm glad that dh refused point blank to go with my first choice (Charlie) but I do wish we'd taken longer to decide. While I like the name we chose and it has always suited him, I think we would have done better to go with the name that occurred to us as we were driving to the hospital: George.

dd - we did far better, waiting 5 days until we decided. We rejected 2 other names - and am v glad we did. The name she has ended up with is perfect: strong but pretty, with no nasty nicknames. Plus she's the only one in the school! - So yes, would choose that again in a flash.

Although I don't dislike his name, I'd choose differently for my 18 year old son. I'd prefer the shortened version of his middle name. My 15 year old suits his name perfectly though. It took a lot of thinking about because his name is the same as the shortened version of my name, which most people know me by, and it felt a bit egotistical to be naming him that but after over a week of trying different names after he was born it was the only one which was him if you know what I mean.

Their first names, which appear on their birth certificates, are shortened versions of classic names and people who don't know us so well assume we just shorten the classic name for ease and call them by the (wrong) full name - they even had personalised Christening gifts with the wrong names on. They also have trouble finding their names on items, you can get the longer versions easily but not the shortened.

My 2 boys - yes definitely I adore their names. Dd - I don't know. I do like her name, I just sometimes wonder if it can seem a bit young as she's growing up (she'll be 12 in January). It can be shortened to a more "mature" name which I always expected her to do but she hasn't chosen to do that yet although I know friends do call her it. She still has a lovely name though, just not sure it will work in another 10 years x

For this reason alone I'm still very happy with their names although DS has always looked more like he'd suit my second choice of name than the one we chose.
