Theodore/ Theo or Finn?

Hi which do you like best out of Theo, short for Theodore and Finn, not short for anything, and why?

Stollenlover i love christian too but cant use it for first name as name of an ex also dont like the nickname chris. i did wonder about the 'dated' thing too...

Sorry, just saw your question. Our Finn is Irish and its short for Fintan, he is 22 but he is named for his great uncle who is 90.
I know two other adult Finns, one is also Irish and in his 60s and the other is English in his 40s.
Personally I absolutely love the name.

Christian is a lovely name! I'd use that as first name as both Theo and Finn have become really popular and may start to sound dated as they fall out of favour. Christian is classic, strong and not so overused.

We know a little Finn (spelt Fynn), which I like. I do like Theodore/Theo - and the couple I know are lovely. Both great name choices!

It's not important.

The lead character in the new Star Wars film is a Finn. It's gone global.

If you were thinking about calling him Aodhán for example well then I'd think you'd need an Irish connection Grin

thanks all- well thats the other thing, he definitely wont be fair or blond and although there is a very distant connection to (northern) ireland i dont feel any connection with Ireland, beautiful as it is. I dont know if thats important?

Finn (biased Wink)

Ours is just Finn and we've not met any others (he's 1). Really don't like Finlay etc but thankfully people don't assume it's short for that and agree with pp that Finn sounds stronger. DS is definitely our fair warrior.

I wouldn't assume Finn was short for something. I'm Irish so all the Finns I know are just Finn or Fionn. I'm not a fan of Finley/Finlay. Finn by itself sounds much stronger. He was a legendary warrior after all!

Theo is nice but I personally wouldn't call a child Theodore.

me again- also i wouldn't want ppl to assume finn was short for someeting as no offense to anyone but REALLY dont like the finley, finnegan type names, only Finn cos thought it sounded short and kind of cool, but now am not so sure. Like Theodore just dont know if its a bit boring...:/

also i have a bit of an association with the fithing too and whether 'finn' just sounds like a 'thing' whereas theo sounds more like a name/ more musical, but still like it. Just dont know if i can imagine a man called finn.

Thanks everyone seems to be almost an even split! Tirfarthoin do you mind if I ask approx ho old your brother is. Do you live in Ireland as I know it's been popular for a while there historically? I would never have wanted to pick a popular name but when i first started liking finn years ago it wasnt!

Theo/Theodore.

Finn has been fairly popular for a while and I think Theodore is more classic.

Finn just makes me think of fins as in fish.

Hmm there's not much in it for me! I know lots of both of them if you mind about popularity.

I think today I prefer Finn, it's the first time I've really thought about it. Finn feels very fresh.

I do love Theo but they are everywhere and its losing its appeal and becoming dull. It is a very friendly name though.

Finn, because it is my brothers name and its great on an adult.
I know a Teo which is imo much nicer than Theo probably spelled Theo but pronounced Teo
