I love love love the name Kaiser, it fits well with our last name and DH is on the fence but I'm sure I can convince him but is Kaiser too strange a name and how bad would you react if you met a boy with the name?

Actually I kind of like it. BUT I wouldn't call my own child it (if I had had the balls DS would be Thor) and if he was a child in DC's class I wouldn't judge but would be dying to ask why you chose it but far too polite to say.
If you do go ahead (which I hope you do if you love it) you should be prepared for some to be a bit judgey.
People often pre-judge a name but re-evaluate based on their interactions with someone called it.

It means Emperor, and is the same as Caesar or Tsar/Czar.
More suitable as a name for a large dog, IMO.
Also calls to mind Kaiser Soze, the weird informant/villain in the film The Usual Suspects.

No

It would be the same as calling a child King, or Princess, or Tsar, or Duque.

Kaiser... seems rather dodgy to me: where I live this is a kaiser (the type of bread) www.canalvie.com/polopoly_fs/1.1088840!/image/kaiser-a-la-salade-de-thon-2876.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_490/kaiser-a-la-salade-de-thon-2876.jpg

I also can't get over the german meaning.

My first thought is that it's the same name Janelle from Teen Mom 2 used 😬 and when I first heard she'd used it I was shocked and thought of the war. It has an evil sound, to my ears!

Nanofone · 12/12/2015 02:22

I'm with Lady - it's an attack dog.

LadyB49 · 12/12/2015 01:36

When I hear Kaiser I think Rottweiler or pit bull terrier.
Don't like it.
Sorry

X post Creature!

cosytoaster · 12/12/2015 01:23

Sorry, I'd think it strange - just makes me think of Kaiser Bill and WW1

Creatureofthenight · 12/12/2015 01:22

I hear Kaiser, I think Wilhelm.
